Requirements
  • A PhD or master's degree.
  • Knowledge of machine learning frameworks including JAX, PyTorch, vLLM, SGLang, Dynamo, TorchXLA, and TensorRT.
  • Experience in robotics design, automation systems development, control systems design, or related product development.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with physics simulation platforms for robot learning, such as MuJoCo, Isaac Sim/Lab, PyBullet, or Drake.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement GPU-accelerated reinforcement learning and imitation learning environments in NVIDIA Isaac Lab for manipulation and mobility tasks.
  • Build and maintain policy training pipelines supporting diffusion policies, vision-language-action models, behavior cloning, and actor-critic reinforcement learning, and evaluate trained policies in simulation.
  • Characterize and reduce sim-to-real gaps by comparing simulated sensor outputs, kinematics, and dynamics against real-world robot data and implementing targeted improvements.
  • Implement visual, physics, and geometric domain-randomization strategies to improve policy robustness and transfer to real hardware.
  • Develop sim-to-real transfer techniques, including system identification, physics parameter calibration, and visual domain adaptation.
  • Create robot embodiment validation tests for joint kinematics, actuator response, and contact behavior to ensure digital twins are faithful to real hardware.
  • Build data pipelines for recording, replaying, and augmenting demonstration data from teleoperation or automated trajectory generation to scale training data volume.
  • Contribute to end-effector modeling and contact-dynamics tuning for physically plausible gripper and tool interactions in simulation.
  • Author design documents for new simulation science capabilities and contribute to technical reviews.
  • Collaborate with partner science teams to understand their model architectures and ensure simulation environments meet their training requirements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience deploying learned policies on real robot hardware, including manipulation arms, mobile platforms, or mobile manipulators.
  • Experience with NVIDIA Isaac Lab/Sim, Omniverse, or USD-based simulation workflows.
  • Experience with modern Physical AI architectures, including vision-language-action models, diffusion-based policy learning, action-chunking transformers, or behavior cloning from demonstrations.
  • Familiarity with teleoperation systems and demonstration data collection pipelines using haptic devices and HDF5, zarr, or similar formats.
  • Experience with contact-dynamics modeling and parameter tuning for grippers, suction systems, or other end-effectors.
  • Familiarity with ROS2 and robotics middleware for integration with robot software stacks.
  • Experience with GPU-accelerated parallel simulation running thousands of environments concurrently for reinforcement learning training.
  • Experience with trajectory optimization or motion planning using MoveIt, OMPL, or equivalent tools to generate training data.
  • Publications at robotics or machine-learning venues such as CoRL, ICRA, IROS, RSS, NeurIPS, or ICML.

Amazon's Zoox and Alphabet's Waymo expand robotaxi services to new US cities

Amazon's Zoox and Alphabet's Waymo are expanding their robotaxi operations to more US cities. Zoox will begin mapping and testing in Houston and San Diego, bringing its presence to 12 locations. The company launched paid rides in Las Vegas in August after previously offering free testing rides. Waymo is introducing public rides in Denver, San Diego and Tampa, expanding its service to 14 cities. Both companies are targeting San Diego, though Zoox remains in testing whilst Waymo begins commercial operations. Waymo also plans to test autonomous vehicles in Munich before a proposed commercial launch in Germany by late 2027. Neither company disclosed potential revenue from the new markets. The expansion allows both firms to test technology under varied conditions and reach more customers.

Amazon integrates shopping into Prime Video with X-Ray feature and visual search across 8,000 titles

Amazon has introduced new shopping features for Prime Video viewers. The retail giant is integrating product discovery across thousands of titles through its X-Ray experience, which currently displays actor information and soundtrack details. Users can now access a Shop tab by pausing video and pressing up on their Fire TV remote. A new "Shop the Scene" feature uses Amazon's Lens technology to identify products from characters' outfits and home décor. The updates enhance last year's "Shop the Show" feature, which required typing a search query. The improved second-screen experience now automatically opens relevant storefronts when users launch the Amazon Shopping app whilst watching content. "Shop the Scene" is available on iOS and Android across more than 600 titles, whilst "Shop the Show" has expanded from 1,300 to over 8,000 titles in the US.
