Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Six or more years of overall relevant technical experience is required.
  • One to two years of direct, hands-on experience building generative artificial intelligence or artificial intelligence and machine learning systems in production.
  • Experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or platform engineering.
  • Experience implementing retrieval, grounding, and semantic components for large language model or agent-based applications, including retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, vector stores, embedding workflows, and structured tool use.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more modern artificial intelligence platforms and tooling categories, such as Amazon Web Services Bedrock, Databricks Machine Learning, Snowflake Cortex, OpenAI or Anthropic application programming interfaces, LangChain or LlamaIndex, MLflow, and vector databases such as Databricks Vector Search, pgvector, or Pinecone.
  • Strong, demonstrable expertise in Python and SQL, with working knowledge of distributed processing frameworks such as Spark.
  • Deep, hands-on experience with modern data stacks including dbt, Fivetran, and Snowflake in Amazon Web Services-based environments.
  • Experience building data pipelines and products whose consumers include artificial intelligence systems, not only business intelligence tools and human analysts.
  • Experience operating within federated data operating models and complex, regulated enterprise environments.
  • Fluency in current artificial intelligence engineering patterns, including retrieval-augmented generation, agents, tool use, evaluations, guardrails, and observability.
  • Ability to distinguish durable engineering decisions from artificial intelligence hype.
Responsibilities
  • Build and operate artificial-intelligence-ready data pipelines, including embedding generation, chunking, indexing, and refresh workflows, so enterprise data is reliably retrievable by large language models, agents, and generative artificial intelligence applications.
  • Implement retrieval-augmented generation components, including vector store integrations, hybrid search, re-ranking, and grounding logic, against architectural patterns defined by the Senior Artificial Intelligence and Data Architect.
  • Develop and maintain tool and function interfaces that allow agents and copilots to query and act on enterprise data safely, with appropriate guardrails, logging, and evaluation hooks.
  • Partner with Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Engineering teams to operationalize feature stores, evaluation datasets, and reusable artificial-intelligence data products.
  • Contribute to semantic and context engineering work that powers natural-language analytics, conversational reporting, and artificial-intelligence-driven insights for business users.
  • Design, build, and maintain production-grade extract-load-transform, streaming, and transformation pipelines using dbt, Fivetran, and Snowflake.
  • Implement ingestion, modeling, and consumption patterns that meet enterprise standards for scalability, performance, security, resiliency, and cost efficiency.
  • Write clean, well-tested Python and SQL and apply software engineering best practices including version control, code review, continuous integration and continuous delivery, modular design, and automated testing.
  • Productionize new sources and domains under the federated operating model, partnering with domain data engineers to apply shared platform capabilities consistently.
  • Implement semantic models, data contracts, and analytical and dimensional models that enable trusted self-service analytics and reliable artificial-intelligence grounding.
  • Build and maintain reusable data products with clear ownership, documented contracts, and contextual metadata suitable for human and artificial-intelligence consumers.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Artificial Intelligence and Data Architect to refine and extend enterprise semantic standards based on production results.
  • Support discovery and consumption tooling so analysts, applications, and agents can find and use data products with minimal friction.
  • Implement data quality checks, lineage capture, and pipeline observability across data and artificial-intelligence workloads.
  • Build logging, evaluation, and monitoring components for artificial-intelligence systems, including prompt and response capture, retrieval metrics, and model performance signals, in line with governance standards.
  • Partner with Data Governance to operationalize metadata, stewardship, and access controls so artificial-intelligence systems consume enterprise data with the same rigor as human users.
  • Surface issues early, propose remediations, and feed lessons learned back into architectural patterns.
  • Participate in architectural design reviews and contribute hands-on engineering perspective to evolving patterns and standards.
  • Mentor junior data engineers and analysts on modern data and artificial-intelligence engineering practices.
  • Document patterns, write runbooks, and share knowledge across the federated organization to accelerate adoption of reusable platform capabilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • A concentration in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or a related field is preferred.
  • A master's degree is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud, data engineering, analytics, or artificial intelligence and machine learning are preferred.
  • Experience with Palantir is a plus.
  • Financial services experience is preferred.

Carlyle co-leads $1B funding round for hypersonic missile startup Castelion

Californian missile-making startup Castelion has closed a funding round exceeding $1 billion, co-led by Carlyle Group, JPMorgan Chase, and Andreessen Horowitz. The Series C investment comprises $800 million in equity and a $250 million revolving credit facility, raising the company's valuation to $13 billion. The fresh capital will fund production of Castelion's Blackbeard hypersonic missile and development of a larger hypersonic strike weapon and air-defence missile. Military leaders seek more hypersonic weapons to match China's growing arsenal, whilst the Pentagon requires increased production of traditional defensive systems like Patriot missiles. Castelion, founded by three SpaceX alumni, has invested roughly $250 million building a New Mexico production campus and is searching for a new factory site.

Carlyle acquires Bain Capital's stake in Wealth Enhancement as private equity deepens RIA consolidation bet

Carlyle Group has agreed to acquire Bain Capital's stake in Wealth Enhancement, one of America's largest registered investment advisors. The transaction signals continued private equity interest in the wealth management sector despite years of consolidation. Bain is exiting after supporting Wealth Enhancement's expansion through acquisitions and organic growth. Carlyle is stepping in expecting further value creation opportunities. Wealth Enhancement has grown into one of the country's largest RIAs through aggressive acquisitions whilst maintaining local client relationships. The firm's recurring fee revenue, demographic tailwinds, and fragmented competition continue attracting institutional capital. The deal reflects how RIAs have evolved from professional practices into scalable operating businesses valued at billions. Private equity firms are betting on continued asset gathering, acquisitions of smaller competitors, and serving an ageing population requiring sophisticated financial planning.
