Icelandic firm Eyrir acquires 31.4% stake in Kingfish Company for $17M

The Kingfish Company has announced a strategic financial restructuring that will see Icelandic investment firm Eyrir acquire a 31.4% stake, becoming its largest shareholder. The Netherlands-based land-based yellowtail kingfish farmer has raised €21 million through a private placement, with Eyrir committing €15 million. The restructuring includes converting approximately €49 million in outstanding debt into ordinary shares and extending the senior facilities agreement maturity until April 2029. Eyrir has established a new entity, Eyrir Blue Farms, focused on land-based aquaculture investments and will propose a representative for Kingfish's supervisory board. The transaction follows a turbulent period for Kingfish, including CEO changes and lower-than-expected 2025 results. The company says the restructuring will strengthen its balance sheet and provide a stable platform for future growth.
