Requirements
  • A master's degree in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology or a relevant field is required.
  • At least four years of full-time professional work experience in a university counseling center or related setting is required.
  • A current valid license as a psychologist, social worker, or counselor in the State of New Jersey is required.
  • A Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor credential with commensurate experience is required.
  • Ability to work on an on-call basis after normal business hours is required.
  • Demonstrated competence in time-limited individual and group counseling with diverse populations is required.
  • Proven ability and commitment to work successfully with diverse and underrepresented groups is required.
  • Well-developed knowledge and ability to assess and intervene with developmental concerns, especially those of young adults, is required.
  • Strong ability to build collegial relationships within the University and surrounding community is required.
Responsibilities
  • Manage delivery of mental health services and educational outreach programs for a team of five staff clinicians.
  • Develop and monitor yearly unit goals and objectives.
  • Lead evaluation and assessment of service provision and programs for the unit and develop new programs to improve and expand services.
  • Provide direct supervision and management of counseling center staff, including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling and assigning, evaluating, recommending reappointments, and overseeing promotions and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure compliance with continuing education requirements and professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Oversee implementation of counseling center policies and staff performance standards and update the department’s Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Oversee routine and emergency individual psychological consultation, assessment, brief psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and referrals provided by assigned staff.
  • Supervise assessment and diagnosis of psychological conditions and disorders by assigned staff and contracted service providers.
  • Administratively oversee alcohol and other drug use services and carry an active caseload.
  • Manage implementation of emergency management procedures for responding to mental health and other emergencies at the University.
  • Coordinate care and provide trauma debriefing services after campus emergencies.
  • Maintain professional relationships with community mental health agencies and clinicians to establish an off-campus referral base.
  • Supervise emergency procedures for immediate management of mental health emergencies in the office during business hours and on a rotating on-call basis after business hours.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Psychologist qualification is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
