About the job

Requirements
  • Four to five or more years of experience in the Australian mortgage broking industry in a senior processing, credit, or associate role.
  • Hands-on experience preparing and lodging SMSF, complex self-employed, and trust-structure loan applications.
  • Credit analysis capability across PAYG, self-employed, commission-based, and rental income; ability to read a credit file and work serviceability levers across multiple lenders.
  • Deep understanding of mortgage products, lender policy, and compliance obligations including BID, NCCP, and responsible lending requirements.
  • Ability to own a pipeline independently and work in a workflow-driven rather than task-driven manner.
  • Experience building compliant, complete proposal packages including BID/NCCP documentation.
  • Attention to detail and file discipline, with ability to keep multiple complex files moving simultaneously.
  • Written communication skills for producing client-facing summaries and internal credit notes.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and pace.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Mercury CRM (Connective), ApplyOnline (AOL), Quickli, and Microsoft Teams.
Responsibilities
  • Liaise internally with Brokers, Strategists, and the wider support team, and externally with Clients, Lenders, Solicitors, Conveyancers, and Referral Partners.
  • Own the Mercury CRM pipeline end to end by maintaining accurate notes, task tracking, and stage progression without prompting.
  • Keep track of every file's status and be able to explain any client's situation promptly.
  • Set up new files, enter data accurately across CRM and lender platforms, and maintain folder structure and naming conventions to company standards.
  • Oversee and advance the front end of the pipeline, including lead follow-up cadence on Days 4, 7, and 10, document collection, Equifax and PropertyHub reports, and pre-review notes.
  • Complete the full Review stage independently: assess PAYG and complex income, review bank statements via CashDeck, confirm salary packaging, assess rental income, work out the funding position, run Quickli serviceability, and write review notes.
  • Hand files to the broker fully prepared for the First Appointment and take them back once the recommendation is made.
  • Build full proposal packages, including the servicing calculator, pricing, BID/NCCP compliance, AOL setup, credit notes, lender checklist, compliance documents, and client proposal.
  • Identify missing or incorrect documentation early and structure and package files to a submission-ready standard while avoiding unnecessary rework.
  • Submit pricing requests, order and track valuations, and manage pre-approval conditions.
  • Lodge applications via AOL and handle lender rework requests promptly and accurately.
  • Follow up with lenders, solicitors, and conveyancers to keep files progressing toward settlement.
  • Monitor outstanding conditions, deadlines, and settlement timelines, and proactively escalate issues to the broker.
  • Keep status notes current and provide regular internal updates to maintain team visibility.
  • Own the client relationship during processing by guiding document collection, providing pipeline updates, setting expectations, and responding to inquiries.
  • Write post-appointment summaries and confirm strategy and instructions in writing.
  • Conduct post-settlement annual reviews to support retention and identify future opportunities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Strategist-level credit depth, including experience writing credit submissions, selecting lenders independently, and managing credit assessor conversations.
  • Familiarity with multi-property investment and construction lending scenarios.
  • Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking or equivalent.
  • Experience mentoring or overseeing junior associates.
