  • A Ph.D. (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in advertising, public relations, strategic communication, mass communication, or a closely related field; ABD candidates nearing completion of the Ph.D. may also be considered.
  • Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, scholarly work and publication, professional experience, and bringing diverse perspectives to strategic communication.
  • Relevant teaching experience in advertising, public relations, strategic communication, or closely related course topics.
  • Ability to address inclusive pedagogy, effective teaching in emerging strategic communication practices, and curriculum development.
  • A research agenda describing current and future scholarly plans.
  • A scholarly writing sample.
  • An unofficial copy of graduate transcripts from the terminal degree; a partial transcript is accepted for ABD candidates.
  • A cover letter addressing interest in the position, commitment to teaching, scholarship and/or undergraduate mentorship, and engagement with the university mission and convictions.
  • Contact information for three professional references who can speak directly to teaching experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
  • Teach six courses, totaling 24 credits or equivalent, per year in advertising, public relations, and integrated strategic communication at the undergraduate level, including emerging disciplinary practices.
  • Supervise student internships.
  • Coach students for competitions.
  • Advise student clubs, including the Public Relations Student Society of America or the Advertising Federation.
  • Mentor undergraduate students participating in The Crest, the student-run media news outlet.
  • Perform service to the department, university, and community.
  • Engage in scholarly work and publication.
  • Develop interdisciplinary courses in collaboration with Journalism and Digital Media Arts faculty when appropriate.
  • Finalists invited to campus will give a classroom lecture and a research presentation to the faculty.
