Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant, or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • For Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioners or Adult Nurse Practitioners, experience with adult patients from 13 years to death and stable chronic disease management or primary care.
  • For Family Nurse Practitioners, experience with patients from birth to death and stable chronic disease management or primary care across the lifespan.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification before the start date.
  • DHEC and Drug Enforcement Administration license applications must be started before the first day when applicable.
  • Maintenance of required licenses, certifications, continuing nursing education, and continuing medical education under applicable policies and state law.
  • Ability to perform the stated physical requirements, including standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds, and respirator qualification.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care by taking comprehensive histories and performing physical examinations.
  • Evaluate and treat patients using history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope-of-practice guideline.
  • Initiate referrals to other healthcare providers and consult with the attending or collaborating physician.
  • Document and bill for direct care provided.
  • Use current research and evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice.
  • Perform and participate in quality and performance improvement activities and clinical research.
  • Participate in organizational accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities.
  • Maintain professional practice through participation in professional organizations and continuing education.
  • Provide care for patients with oncology urgent needs and staff the rapid access clinic.
  • Provide coverage in the Orangeburg infusion suite and supervise care provided by infusion nurses.
  • Collaborate with the ordering physician to manage infusion patients, including chemotherapy, fluids, and other medications.
  • Collaborate with nursing and operations managers across multiple disciplines.
  • Coordinate therapy initiation, review laboratory results, support physicians' orders, and sign off on all infusion encounters.
  • Receive and triage infusion patient phone calls, respond to routine questions and requests, and refer complex issues to the physician as needed.
  • Provide rotating infusion suite coverage on weekends and holidays.
  • Participate in weekly tumor boards and team meetings.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous hematology-oncology advanced practice provider experience.
  • Potentially precept students enrolled as advanced practice provider students and facilitate learning for new team members.
