Project Engineer
About the job
- At least 5 years of experience as an electrical engineer in industrial or manufacturing settings; steel or heavy industry experience is strongly preferred.
- A track record leading electrical installations from planning through commissioning.
- Working knowledge of power distribution, switchgear, and motor control centers (MCCs).
- Ability to coordinate several trades on an active site and advise leadership on trade-offs.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Willingness to work on site full time.
- Lead installation of power distribution, switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and control room electrical infrastructure.
- Serve as the main contact for electrical work, coordinating contractors, vendors, and trade crews.
- Build and manage the installation schedule to fit around plant operations.
- Direct field crews using one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and drawings, and solve problems on site.
- Ensure control rooms have appropriate power quality, grounding, backup power, and cable routing.
- Track budget and materials, and support testing, energization, and handoff in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and National Fire Protection Association 70E (NFPA 70E) requirements.
- Metals industry background.
- Experience installing Allen-Bradley or Siemens programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- A Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward one.
- OSHA 30 training.
