Requirements
  • A valid Wisconsin Substance Abuse Counselor or Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor credential in good standing with the state is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience serving persons with mental health and substance use disorders is required.
  • A valid Certified Peer Specialist Certification is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree or five years of valid experience is required.
  • Current American Heart Association CPR certification or American Red Cross Professional Rescue certification is required upon hire, with bi-annual recertification.
  • Formal training in crisis prevention and crisis intervention is required within 60 days of hire, with annual recertification.
  • First aid training is required within 90 days of employment.
  • Community-based residential facility fire-safety training is required within 90 days of employment.
  • A current and active driver's license in good standing is required.
  • The employee must complete assignments and documentation within required time limits.
  • The employee must report suspected physical or sexual abuse and neglect according to Wisconsin law and organizational policies.
  • The employee must comply with applicable Joint Commission, Wisconsin Department of Health Services, confidentiality, infection control, employee health, residential, and other regulatory requirements.
  • The employee must demonstrate effective communication, organizational skills, punctuality, preparedness, and professional conduct.
  • The employee must be available for weekday and weekend work and work 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
  • Provide substance use disorder care to assigned patients within the scope of training and credentialing.
  • Conduct coordinated one-on-one patient sessions addressing psychosocial, intellectual, physical, and spiritual needs.
  • Assist patients in completing Recovery Maintenance Plans.
  • Implement individualized, interdisciplinary treatment-plan components and document patient behavior, interactions, clinical responses, and progress.
  • Understand and implement daily patient activities in collaboration with staff.
  • Monitor patient behavior and intervene to protect dignity, learning, and well-being.
  • Facilitate and document substance use disorder groups.
  • Collect, review, and document information about patient status.
  • Complete clinical reports, admission and discharge assessments, discharge paperwork, and Master Treatment Plans as assigned.
  • Provide age-appropriate interventions and discharge support identified by the clinical team.
  • Provide community-based education and review meeting selection and attendance according to patient needs.
  • Provide education about sponsorship, mentorship, coaching, and selecting and working with temporary supports.
  • Serve as a case manager for assigned patients through the interdisciplinary treatment-team process.
  • Initiate and maintain collateral contacts to support continuing-care needs.
  • Build and maintain community partnerships.
  • Coordinate therapy and discharge planning as assigned by the therapist.
  • Support patient accountability for ongoing substance use disorder treatment plans.
  • Collect and record data for treatment-plan development and assist with patient participation in outcome studies.
  • Communicate with team members about patient schedules, programs, progress, behavior, and incidents.
  • Attend clinical staffing, related meetings, mandatory in-services, seminars, committees, performance-improvement meetings, and team projects as directed.
  • Transport patients as needed while following vehicle-use policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly indoor and outdoor program environment and protect hospital resources.
  • Promote department goals and the mission of Rogers Behavioral Health.
  • Communicate goals to staff and maintain department policies and procedures.
  • Educate inexperienced staff about applicable regulations and requirements as directed.
  • Participate in performance-improvement programs, Rogers Operating System activities, and related teams.
  • Maintain familiarity with and apply the Rogers Operating System model and tools.
  • Participate in hospital and department planning.
  • Resolve individual concerns professionally and provide solutions.
  • Float to other programs, including adolescent programs, to provide mental health and addiction recovery support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
