Requirements
  • Two years of paid experience working in a social care field is essential, preferably in a residential setting.
  • A Social Studies or Case Management accredited qualification is required.
  • Experience and understanding of the complexities involved in working with service users experiencing intimate partner violence.
  • Good working knowledge of risk assessment processes and systems, including service-user risk assessment, lone working, and activity risk assessments.
  • Understanding of harm reduction and low-threshold working.
  • Understanding of why people become homeless and the issues they present with, including the supports available in homeless services for service users with complex support needs.
  • Experience with needs assessment, key working, and support planning for people with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of statutory and voluntary sector resources available to homeless people.
  • Understanding of the importance of health and safety in a residential setting.
  • Computer literacy and proficient use of information technology, including email in a professional capacity.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Depaul's vision, mission, and values.
  • Understanding of and respect for Depaul's values and beliefs.
Responsibilities
  • Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team using holistic approaches and harm-minimisation principles to provide care, support, and dignity to residents.
  • Meet the practical needs of service users by providing food, laundry, and clean bedding while maintaining a safe and secure environment to a high service standard.
  • Assess the needs of service users and refer them to appropriate agencies.
  • Provide key working to a number of residents, record this work, advocate for residents, and update the line manager and team on progress.
  • Liaise with external agencies, health boards, and county councils.
  • Adhere to all quality-assurance policies and procedures.
  • Assist medical and nursing staff with the healthcare of service users.
  • Participate in team handovers, supervise volunteers, and support team members in ensuring consistent decision-making.
  • Participate in supervision with the line manager and annual appraisals, and identify professional development needs within the role.
  • Adhere to Depaul policies and procedures, particularly those concerning health and safety, the code of conduct, and confidentiality.
  • Perform the role professionally while maintaining a high standard of work aligned with Depaul's values and ethos.
  • Undertake additional areas of responsibility, including tasks and direct reports, as assigned over time.

Pan-American Square Apartments Wins Community Impact Award

Pan-American Square Apartments wins Community Impact Award. SWBR Company is pleased to announce that DePaul Pan-American Square Apartments has been recognized with the 2025 Community Impact Award by the Buffalo/WNY Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. This award honors projects that make a meaningful difference in their communities through thoughtful, inclusive design. Completed earlier this year, Pan-American Square Apartments transformed a former rail corridor into a 150-unit affordable and supportive housing community in Buffalo, NY. Designed to Passive House standards, the development provides energy-efficient homes and essential services for seniors and individuals experiencing homelessness or mental illness. More than housing, it is a catalyst for community revitalization, delivering stability, sustainability, and hope for Buffalo's most vulnerable residents. Jury Comment: The integration of community-based programs and sustainable design at the Pan-American Square Apartments struck the jury. Exemplifying the criteria of the Community Award, the Pan-American Square Apartments took a holistic approach to senior living and supportive housing that will have a lasting positive impact on the WNY community. It is clear that this project will uplift and provide stability for the most vulnerable members of its community and the design team took every opportunity to maximize resources available to its residents. SWBR provided architectural, interior design, structural engineering, landscape architecture, and graphic design services for the project. The awards celebration was held Thursday, November 6 in Buffalo, NY.
