Requirements
  • Previous cooking experience, preferably in a hospital or restaurant environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to walk for up to 7 hours, sit for up to 1 hour, and stand for up to 1½ hours at a time.
  • Ability to handle, twist or turn, lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing 1–50 pounds, with occasional stooping, bending, climbing, and reaching above shoulder level.
  • Ability to hear normal conversation and use general, far, and peripheral vision.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare all foods in the proper amounts and portion sizes, ensuring quality, quantity, presentation, and readiness for scheduled service periods.
  • Ensure foods are served at the proper temperature and merchandised to enhance product quality.
  • Follow recipes and production methods.
  • Review menu items with staff, including their content and method of service.
  • Alert staff to menu changes and special service requirements in sufficient time for action.
  • Review menus and forecast preparation amounts according to directions, recipes, and portions.
  • Review the next day's service with staff and communicate changes or special service requirements.
  • Assist with general sanitation of the food service department, including wiping walls, cleaning equipment, working in the dish room, and emptying trash cans.
  • Clean and maintain the work area at all times.
Desired Qualifications
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Previous cooking experience in a hospital or restaurant environment.
