About the job

Requirements
  • 2 to 6 years of full-time software engineering experience focused on machine learning and/or computer vision.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and hands-on machine-learning experience, including writing production-quality code and training and debugging models.
  • End-to-end experience taking models from raw data to production and owning their post-release performance.
  • Experience training, deploying, monitoring, and iterating on models in production.
  • Experience with modern computer vision and sound judgment in choosing classical techniques or more computationally intensive models.
Responsibilities
  • Select problems to solve and own the pipeline from raw sensor data through collection, dataset curation, training, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
  • Build and test ideas using real roadside devices and hardware.
  • Develop and operate computer-vision systems at scale, including detection, segmentation, classification, embeddings, and vehicle re-identification across images of vehicles, license plates, wheels, and lane markings.
  • Apply traditional computer-vision algorithms or train custom state-of-the-art models when off-the-shelf approaches are insufficient.
  • Develop models for cloud and roadside edge inference, optimizing edge models for speed, size, and power efficiency while maintaining accuracy.

About the company

Blissway uses small roadside devices called Wireless Autonomous Lane Enforcers (WAL-Es) paired with cloud data analytics to identify, track, and toll vehicles without traditional gantries. WAL-Es collect vehicle data from the roadside and feed it to the cloud, where multi-lane tolling, vehicle classification, and occupancy verification for express and HOV lanes are managed, with interim tolling and disaster recovery for continuity. Unlike systems that rely on windshield transponders and gantries, Blissway moves toll monitoring off the road into scalable cloud-powered processing. The goal is to provide a reliable, scalable tolling and traffic-management system for highway operators and government agencies, supported by ongoing service, maintenance, and data analysis revenues.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Blissway.com updated August 17, 2026, signals active commercialization and inbound agency selling.
  • CDOT planned expansion from one pilot to four more work-zone sites in 2024.
  • Denver7 reported July 2025 warnings first, then civil penalties, creating near-term enforcement revenue.

What critics are saying

  • Blissway still has one public contract; CDOT contracting remained ongoing in 2025.
  • Colorado trial expansion starts with one pilot site, not systemwide adoption.
  • If CDOT pauses rollout after failures, Blissway loses its clearest existential customer path.

What makes Blissway unique

  • WAL-Es replace gantries, identified on Blissway.com August 17, 2026, with roadside devices.
  • CDOT awarded Blissway its only-vendor speed-safety contract in September 2024.
  • Blissway combines tolling, HOV occupancy verification, and point-to-point speed enforcement.
