- Provide direct day-to-day support to residents and ensure their emotional and physical needs are met.
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including meals, laundry, cleaning, and personal routines.
- Build positive relationships and trust with residents through empathy, consistency, and clear boundaries.
- Support residents in understanding and following facility guidelines and curfews.
- Encourage participation in cultural, recreational, and skill-building programs.
- Monitor and report changes in resident behavior or well-being to the Coordinator or Manager.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating structured activities, workshops, and cultural programming.
- Promote engagement in community wellness, cultural teachings, and traditional practices.
- Support group sessions, family visits, and life-skills programs under the direction of the Coordinator.
- Ensure residents have access to resources that promote healing and independence.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in resident spaces and communal areas.
- Support meal preparation, food service, and supply inventory.
- Conduct safety checks and immediately report maintenance or operational issues.
- Ensure facility policies and safety standards are followed.
- Record daily observations, resident updates, and shift activities in logs and reports.
- Participate in shift handovers and staff debriefings.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain consistent, respectful, and effective communication.
- Follow IRC human resources policies, including overtime, standby, and callback pay.
- Maintain confidentiality in compliance with IRC's Privacy and Confidentiality Policy.
- Remain fit for duty and free from substances while on shift or standby.
- Demonstrate professionalism, cultural awareness, and compassion in resident interactions.
- Two years of experience in a support, shelter, or wellness program environment is preferred.
- Experience working with Indigenous or northern communities is an asset.

The Mackenzie Delta herd-Canada's only reindeer herd-plays a vital role in Arctic agriculture, contributing to local food systems, community resilience, and the preservation of traditional livelihoods. Working together with Indigenous partners, the Government of Canada is supporting strategic opportunities that will leverage the herd to advance food sovereignty, economic resilience, and cultural revitalization across the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR). Today, the Honourable Rebecca Alty, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Member of Parliament for the Northwest Territories, on behalf of the Honourable Heath MacDonald, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, announced an investment of up to $885,225 for the Inuvialuit Community Economic Development Organization (ICEDO) through the Canadian Agricultural Strategic Priorities Program. With this support, the ICEDO will create a strategic plan to transform management of the reindeer herd from a community food security effort into a self-sustaining agribusiness. The plan will serve as a comprehensive roadmap for infrastructure investments, workforce development, market expansion, and operational sustainability in Canada's most remote and agriculturally challenging region. This initiative exemplifies Indigenous-led innovation, with the Inuvialuit community driving priorities rooted in their traditional values and long-term goals. The project will integrate the Inuvialuit's deep knowledge of food sharing, environmental stewardship and cultural practices with modern agricultural technologies and market strategies. Inuvialuit Regional Corporation to launch one-stop health facility with dental and physician services. Inuvik, NT - Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) is pleased to announce a significant expansion of its community supports, with the introduction of health services under the Inuvialuit Health banner. In 2027, IRC will open a new medical clinic in Inuvik, designed to provide both dental and physician services in one convenient residential location. This initiative is made possible through generous funding from the Government of Canada, including support from Indigenous Services Canada and Health Canada. The Government of Northwest Territories also played a role in bringing the partners to the table. "IRC has a history of stepping up to fill urgent gaps for our people and community, and today's lack of reliable dental and primary care is nothing short of a crisis," says IRC chair, Erwin Elias. "By standing up this new clinic, we're taking decisive action to bring care closer to home and make sure our people receive the quality health care they deserve, right here at home, when they need it most." The facility will provide comprehensive care with a team of rotating dentists, physicians, hygienists and dental therapists. The service model is still under development. "This investment through Health Canada's Oral Health Access Fund reflects our commitment to improving access to essential oral health services across the country," says the Honourable Marjorie Michel, Minister of Health. The role is a newly created executive position established to consolidate IRC's legal, governance, and organizational development functions, and to support emerging Department of National Defence (DND) initiatives in the Western Arctic. St-Jacques brings 35 years of experience across an unusual combination of roles: soldier, political advisor, international employment and commercial lawyer, and people operations executive. He has worked across 29 countries on four continents, supporting complex organizations and governments through the kind of jurisdictionally layered, high-stakes work that defines IRC's current moment. His career has centred on building institutions that endure: the internal systems, legal foundations and professional frameworks that allow organizations to grow with confidence over the long term. St-Jacques holds a Juris Doctor from Tulane Law and an MBA from Vlerick Business School. Inuvialuit group of companies boasts record $8.6M distribution to Inuvialuit beneficiaries this year. April 22, 2026 The Inuvialuit Petroleum Corporation is proposing to develop the M-18 well with the construction of a gas plant that will produce natural gas and synthetic diesel, which can then be transported to customers for power and heating applications. (Image: Inuvialuit Regional Corporation) The Inuvialuit group of companies announced "exceptional financial results" for its 2025 fiscal year with record earnings of $137.9 million. The 2026 distribution payment of $1,706 will be made on May 1, to each of the 5,050 enrolled Inuvialuit beneficiaries. This payment totals $8.6 million and represents an increase of 27% from last year's payment. IRC chair and CEO Erwin Elias stated in a release that, "this distribution represents far more than a dollar amount - it reflects stability for Inuvialuit families and meaningful investment in its communities. He continued: "These funds help support household needs, strengthen local economies, and create opportunities that contribute to healthier, more resilient communities today while laying a foundation for future generations."
