Girl Scouts host 12th annual Geek is Glam STEM expo. Posted: Oct 11, 2026 / 04:39 PM EDT Updated: Oct 11, 2026 / 04:39 PM EDT WORCESTER, Mass. (WWLP) - More than 300 middle school girls from across central and western Massachusetts gathered at Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Saturday for the 12th annual Geek Is Glam STEM Expo hosted by the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts. The event provided hands-on learning opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics for girls in grades 4 through 8. According to organizers, those years are a critical period when many girls begin losing interest in STEM subjects and may view related careers as out of reach. More than 60 educational and community partners participated in the expo, offering workshops, career panel discussions and demonstrations led by professionals in science, engineering and technology fields. Participants explored topics ranging from robotics and chemistry to coding and design while meeting women working in STEM careers and learning about potential career paths. Organizers said the annual event aims to build confidence, spark curiosity and encourage girls to pursue opportunities in STEM through hands-on experiences and mentorship. Geek Is Glam was supported by several sponsors, including Champion Investment Sponsors eClinicalWorks and Dietz & Company Architects. Patch Pals are soft-baked, blueberry muffin-flavored treats created specifically for dogs. The Girl Scouts teamed up with dog-focused company BARK to create the new snack. Each Patch Pal will also feature one of four different patch designs inspired by classic Girl Scout experiences. * Girl Scouts (The Official Girl Scouts Logo) * Community (Heart) * Exploration (Compass with N, E, S, W) * Play (Tennis Ball) It's about time the dog got something for all those years of watching B100 Quad Cities eat cookies without sharing. Girl Scout Sparkables and Patch Pals will be available online for direct shipping starting January 12, 2027, when the national Girl Scout Cookie season begins. Here's a question for pumpkin spice latte aficionados: Do you care if your PSL contains ACTUAL pumpkin... or are you fine with whatever ingredients are in that delicious, mysterious pumpkin spice syrup?
