Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and five years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment or field, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Knowledge of federal legislative processes, including the structures, roles, and dynamics of congressional offices and federal agencies.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate it clearly to varied audiences.
  • Ability to conduct policy research, analyze information, identify key takeaways, and produce concise written materials.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, including Word, Excel or Google Sheets, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency operating generative artificial intelligence tools and design platforms such as Canva or Adobe.
  • Ability to coordinate and plan meetings, events, conferences, and other professional engagements.
Responsibilities
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Office of Government and Community Engagement and collaborate with colleagues across the office on projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor, research, and analyze federal legislative, regulatory, and policy developments relevant to Arizona State University's priorities and provide timely updates to the Federal Relations team and university leadership.
  • Synthesize and produce collateral, including one-pagers and presentations, for the Office of Government and Community Engagement.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with faculty, staff, academic units, and other internal university partners to identify and advance federal priorities.
  • Represent Arizona State University and attend congressional briefings, hearings, association meetings, conferences, and other external engagements, and provide timely summaries and relevant information to the Federal Relations team.
  • Support the planning and execution of meetings, events, conferences, and other strategic engagements, including scheduling, logistics, materials, and participant communications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in fields relevant to government, community engagement, policy, and/or communications, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Three to five years of experience, preferably in federal government, congressional affairs, public policy, government relations, higher education, communications, or a related field.
