  • Candidate must reside in Northern Kentucky.
  • Be located in Northern Kentucky and travel regionally for occasional meetings and events as needed.
  • Be a current or previous nonprofit executive with a deep understanding of nonprofit sector challenges, including time and resource constraints to engage in advocacy and the complex issues facing nonprofits in providing services.
  • Possess a demonstrated understanding of public policy advocacy and the legislative process, particularly at the local level.
  • Possess the decision-making skills and professional judgement required to maintain nonpartisan relationships with elected and appointed public officials.
  • Share KNN‘s commitment to equitable access, inclusion of voices - especially those closest to the needs, and the benefits of diversity in our organizations, boards, volunteers, stakeholders, and participants.
  • Successfully articulate the benefits of state association and local coalition membership and engagement to nonprofit colleagues - sell membership AND the vision of a united nonprofit sector in communities and statewide.
  • Have demonstrated experience in building and supporting nonprofit coalitions with the energy required to inspire, and coach nonprofit leaders to engage in advocacy and coalition participation on behalf of their organization and those they serve.
  • Juggle multiple priorities with ease, discern large amounts of information to identify action steps, and think strategically on the fly to take advantage of “crisistunities” and engagement opportunities. This position requires a flexible leader who can adapt with shifting priorities while maintaining focus on overall goals.
  • Facilitate Coalition meetings and relevant events, balancing KNN’s leadership role and member empowerment. Also manage/facilitate discussion on actual and perceived conflicts of interest among members, partners, etc.
  • Serve as a Coalition ambassador and point of contact with other local and regional organizations – synthesizing and communicating information, as needed.
  • Develop and support training and resources that support Coalitions and build capacity of nonprofits generally – advocacy trainings, impact reports, etc.
  • Collaborate with KNN staff on event logistics and marketing.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive team environment – supporting other team members as needed.
  • Engage in social media to lift the work of the Coalition and its members.
  • Be located in Northern Kentucky and travel regionally for occasional meetings and events as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Specifically, this position will help launch and facilitate KNN's Northern Kentucky Nonprofit Coalition, a new local alliance of KNN members, and work to support public policy advocacy and collaboration/coalition-building among nonprofits in the target communities.
  • Facilitate Coalition meetings and relevant events, balancing KNN’s leadership role and member empowerment. Also manage/facilitate discussion on actual and perceived conflicts of interest among members, partners, etc.

Desired Qualifications
  • The preferred candidate will have a minimum of paid director-level experience.
  • The preferred candidate will have a proven track record of successful coalition-building, advocacy, and/or community organizing experience.
