Requirements
  • Graduate from an ARRT, JRCNMT, or CAMRT-recognized education program, or be certified by the ARRT and/or NMTCB, or be certification/registry eligible.
  • Pass the required registry within one year of the hire date.
  • For New Jersey-based employees, hold a current New Jersey State Nuclear Medicine Technologist license from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
  • Demonstrate mandatory clinical competency and didactic training under the supervision of an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Hold current CPR certification before completing orientation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in venipuncture with radiopharmaceuticals and pharmaceuticals using standard precaution techniques.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in intramuscular injections.
  • Meet the physical and sensory requirements, including frequent walking, handling, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and visual and auditory capabilities.
Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine studies on patients according to departmental procedures.
  • Order, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Schedule inpatient and outpatient studies and patients.
  • Follow Nuclear Medicine policies and procedures in compliance with established protocols and state and federal regulations, including NUREG 1556, Volume 19, Revision 1.
  • Educate patients regarding Nuclear Medicine procedures.
  • Perform quality control on all equipment as it pertains to the American College of Radiology.
  • Order radionuclides and receive radionuclides.
  • Give direction and assist with cleanup of accidents or spills involving radioactive materials.
  • Maintain the hot laboratory and waste disposal areas in accordance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Pennsylvania state regulations.
  • Use the RIS, HIS, and PHS modules appropriate to the job responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • If working in PET/CT, obtain an advanced NMTCB PET/CT registry within one year of hire and maintain it annually thereafter.
