Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program in Radiology.
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification in computed tomography, or ability to obtain it within six months.
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification and Oregon Board of Medical Imaging credentials.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Image Wisely pledge certificate, or ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire and annually by January 30 thereafter.
  • Image Gently pledge certificate, or ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire and annually by January 30 thereafter.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and software programs applicable to the position.
  • Ability to operate applicable office equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal departments and the public.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, think independently, and act with minimal supervision.
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance at the assigned job location.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently.
  • Physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond appropriately to unexpected patient-care needs.
  • Adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision.

  • Ability to use proper body mechanics to assist patients with ambulation and transfers.

  • Ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or by telephone.
  • Ability to take rotating call coverage on nights, weekends, and holidays, including special procedures, while remaining within 20 minutes of the hospital.
Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of computed tomography scans for patients of all ages.
  • Apply computed tomography principles, theories, and techniques to provide reliable scan results.
  • Perform diagnostic computed tomography examinations according to established standards and practices.
  • Adjust and operate computerized equipment to scan designated anatomical areas.
  • Review physicians' orders and examination protocols.
  • Position, transfer, and properly immobilize patients as required.
  • Perform safe intravenous injections and monitor and manage intravenous lines.
  • Review and evaluate completed examinations for quality and completeness.
  • Continuously monitor patients during and after scans.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines and report unsafe practices and conditions.
  • Maintain departmental policies, quality assurance, safety, statistics, environmental, and infection-control practices when working with medical staff.
  • Follow universal precautions consistently and appropriately.
  • Critique images.
  • Maintain adequate supplies.
  • Stay current on computed tomography developments through professional journals, on-the-job training, and other educational opportunities.
  • Consult radiologists as needed.
  • Assist in transporting patients.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate degree or bachelor's degree.
  • One year of computed tomography experience.
