India Direct Selling industry set to top Rs 25,000 cr in FY26.

India Direct Selling industry set to top Rs 25,000 cr in FY26. October 12, 2026 India's direct selling industry is set to cross ₹25,000 crore in FY26 with over 91 lakh active sellers, says an ADSEI & Kantar report. The Association of Direct Selling Entities of India (ADSEI) released the study at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, working with research firm Kantar. Direct selling skips the shop. Companies sell through independent individuals who deal with customers face to face. The industry earned Rs 23,522 crore in net revenue in FY25, growing about 7% a year on average. The report expects it to cross Rs 25,000 crore in FY26. More than 91 lakh people work as active sellers, and 47% of them are women, close to 43 lakh. About 69% are aged between 25 and 44. Over 32% say they earn steady income month after month. ADSEI patron Gautam Bali said the figure represents 91 lakh Indians who chose to 'bet on themselves', and that direct selling gives independent incomes, particularly to women in smaller towns and rural areas. India ranks 11th among the world's 15 largest direct selling markets. Wellness, personal care and cosmetics together bring in more than 86% of sales. With a share of 26.8%, North India is the largest region, followed by West India at 24.5%. Keeping sellers is a key worry. Bali said many leave before their businesses find their feet, and he called for better training, stronger governance and a firm commitment to consumer protection. The report calls the Consumer Protection (Direct Selling) Rules, 2021, an important step in formalising the sector. ADSEI President Dr Sanjeev Kumar said the body will keep working with the government on compliance and consumer trust. To build its estimates, ADSEI and Kantar used company disclosures, Ministry of Corporate Affairs filings and up to seven years of financial and operational data. They then tested the numbers through interviews, a seller survey and expert consultations, across business-as-usual, optimistic and pessimistic scenarios. Feeling overwhelmed by the markets? Retail has two-pronged future, study predicts.

Retail has two-pronged future, study predicts. Research finds shopping for staples will be done by AI and physical stores will become hubs of fun and discovery. 6 hours ago October 6, 2026 Photo illustration of digital shopping: Courtesy of Mars In the coming decade, routine runs for groceries and other stapes will become increasingly performed by agentic assistants, paving the way for a brick-and-mortar renaissance driven by discovery, play and community. That's the main finding of a just-released study initiated by snack giant Mars Inc. in tandem with consumer researchers Kantar and Synthesis. Together, the participants analyzed more than 180,000 global data signals - including stakeholder and expert interviews, channel and shopper publications, podcasts and global news - to pinpoint changing consumer demands that will redefine how people shop in the future. What they found is "the ever-evolving shopper journey will be defined by a transformational duality in this next era: * "Shopping will become a frictionless background service managed by agentic technology, freeing consumers to focus on what matters to them. * "Physical stores and digital platforms will feel less like supermarkets, convenience stores or typical online shopping, and more like immersive playgrounds designed for discovery and entertainment." Mars is quick to note that this change will impact it, along with virtually everyone else who sells goods to consumers. "We're standing on the brink of a retail revolution, one where people may never have to manually shop for household staples again. For a category like snacking, this is both an opportunity and a strategic challenge," said Neil Reynolds, Global Chief Customer Officer, Mars Snacking, whose products include Cheez-It, M&M's, Pringles and Snickers. "We've invested in significant research to understand how the shopper journey will evolve, and this research gives us a clear roadmap. But here's what's equally clear: No single company can solve this alone. The only path forward is to work hand-in-hand with retail customers and all partners who are ready to lead this transformation to drive consumer satisfaction and long-term growth across the entire ecosystem." As retailers and brands navigate this new landscape, they face a dual challenge: integrating into the predictive fulfillment systems that will power consumers' digital lives, while simultaneously transforming retail into connected, sensory-rich destinations that reward people for leaving their homes. Understanding this new ecosystem is no longer just a competitive advantage - it is essential for future growth, the study concludes. Click here for the full study, including a look at these three main characteristics that will define shopping in the future: * It will be effortless, with AI-powered background restocking. * It will be personal, with hyper-curated retail experiences. * It will be experiential, with immersive retail destinations. Kantar launches Kantar Experience Impact, powered by Qualtrics.

Kantar launches Kantar Experience Impact, powered by Qualtrics. Kantar, the world's leading brand intelligence business, has launched Kantar Experience Impact, powered by the Qualtrics(R) platform. The customer experience solution helps organisations connect customer experiences to brand strength and therefore decide where to invest for growth. Many organisations measure customer experience, brand tracking and operational data separately. As a result they struggle to see which experiences make the biggest impact on their brand. Kantar Experience Impact brings those perspectives together so that leaders can clearly link customer experience decisions to brand outcomes. The solution combines Kantar's Meaningful Different Salient framework, which underpins decades of brand growth research, with Qualtrics' Experience Management Platform(R) to show how experiences strengthen or weaken the perceptions that drive growth. It helps organisations benchmark performance against competitors, pinpoint what's influencing consumers, and choose the actions most likely to strengthen brand equity. For customer experience, marketing and insights leaders, this provides clear decision-making support: * Which touchpoints influence customer perceptions the most * Where competitors are creating strong experiences and how to close those gaps * How to build a compelling case for experience investment that will positively impact brand growth. Unlike traditional CX programmes that focus only on existing customers, Kantar Experience Impact combines the views of customers and non-customers to show how experiences shape brand perceptions across the whole market. It can also be enriched with voice of customer, operational and brand data so that organisations can understand what is happening and why. Early deployments have shown that distinctiveness is won or lost in a small number of moments. In one pilot for a European telco, the perception gap was sharpest among first-year customers, pointing to onboarding as a decisive point in shaping how that brand is judged. "We know that brands with meaningfully different experiences are 2.5 times more likely to significantly grow their market share. And while many organisations are collecting CX signals, too few understand how these shape their brand and connect to commercial outcomes. Kantar Experience Impact changes that. We've brought together Kantar's expertise in understanding how brands grow with Qualtrics power and scale to give organisations that clear picture so that for the first time, leaders can see not only how they're performing but exactly where to invest next for growth." - Mark Chamberlain, Global Head of Customer Experience at Kantar. "For too long, CX and brand teams have worked from different playbooks. Kantar Experience Impact brings them together. By pairing Kantar's proven understanding of how brands grow with Qualtrics' industry-leading Experience Management Platform, we're giving organisations an integrated view of how every interaction shapes the way their brand is perceived, and the confidence to act on it. It's a great example of what Kantar and Qualtrics can achieve together, and we're proud to bring it to market on World CX Day." - Adam Block, Chief Sales Officer, Qualtrics. Kantar Experience Impact has been developed in partnership with Qualtrics and is available through the Qualtrics platform and marketplace. It supports sectors where customer experience strongly influences growth, including retail, financial services, telecommunications, healthcare, travel and hospitality, and any category where customer experience plays a critical role in growth.
