Requirements
- Proven leadership experience in fleet, logistics, transportation, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and transportation compliance requirements.
- Experience managing fleet assets, including trucks, trailers, and equipment, preventive maintenance, and vendor relationships.
- Ability to monitor key performance indicators, analyze trends, and make strategic recommendations.
- Ability to build trust with drivers, team members, vendors, and cross-functional partners.
- Ability to travel regularly between locations and support a high-performing, collaborative team culture.
Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy, performance, and long-term direction of the fleet department.
- Oversee fleet assets, drivers, logistics, and transportation operations to ensure safe, compliant, efficient, and reliable service.
- Review fleet performance, driver schedules, and routing adjustments for daily deliveries.
- Work with Dispatch to reduce empty miles, evaluate backhaul opportunities, and solve routing challenges.
- Monitor maintenance schedules, equipment issues, vendor coordination, and upcoming inspections.
- Review budget performance, fuel trends, and equipment utilization metrics to identify cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Visit the Sparta and Chippewa Falls sites to support drivers and ensure alignment across both locations.
- Partner with Safety to review compliance status, evaluate incidents or investigations, and reinforce driver training standards.
- Lead team coaching, one-on-one meetings, and key performance indicator reviews.
- Plan future fleet needs, review vendor contracts, and prepare strategic recommendations for leadership.
