Requirements
  • Must be licensed in the State of New Mexico as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
  • Part-time availability is required, including Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; other hours and days are negotiable.
  • Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential.
  • Maintains HIPAA compliance and client confidentiality at all times.
Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and family therapy to clients diagnosed with severe mental illnesses, behavioral problems, mental and emotional problems, and substance use problems.
  • Provide crisis interventions and consult with members of the clinical team to coordinate client care.
  • Assess and evaluate potential risks for higher-level-of-care placements in various environments.
  • Manage progress notes for all clients, documenting session content and interventions used throughout the counseling process.
  • Identify and diagnose psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues; monitor client progress through regular sessions and team meetings.
  • Conduct mental health evaluations within the local emergency department, evaluate potential risk factors, consult with the medical team, and complete required documentation within 24 hours.
  • Conduct interviews, crisis assessments, and enhanced clinical assessments to evaluate potential risk factors for higher-level-of-care placements in acute inpatient facilities, residential treatment centers, and rehabilitation programs.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, safety plans, and therapeutic processes to help clients achieve resiliency.
  • Educate clients through psychoeducation about diagnoses, symptoms, patterns, and adaptive coping skills for independent symptom management.
  • Support clients in defining goals and action plans for personal, social, educational, and vocational development and adjustment.
  • Consult with the clinical team and departments including psychiatric services, Comprehensive Community Support Services, and CareLink to ensure appropriate treatment.
  • Provide group therapy to a variety of populations as needed.
  • Manage caseloads to support client compliance with treatment recommendations.
  • Generate documentation for the criminal justice system, including probation officers and judges, and develop open-access letters to re-engage clients in treatment.
  • Maintain competency in evidence-based practices, skills, and interventions through conferences, webinars, and training.
  • Provide a safe environment for clients to process thoughts and feelings and understand their diagnoses and issues.
