About the job

Requirements
  • 4 to 8 years of professional software engineering experience with strong Python.
  • Experience building and operating reliable integrations, including authentication, rate limiting, and error recovery.
  • Working fluency in Kubernetes and containerized deployment.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with non-technical users.
  • Willingness to work on client site 80 to 100% of the time in the National Capital Region, plus periodic CONUS and OCONUS travel to supported units.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Build and deploy Nebula inside classified customer environments.
  • Implement connectors against undocumented data sources and agent and integration work against undocumented workflows.
  • Develop connectors and integrations, construct MCP servers, operate the platform, and troubleshoot in air-gapped environments.
  • Build and deploy working software in classified customer environments.
  • Develop integrations against customer data sources, including tool development, MCP server construction, and authentication.
  • Configure agents and workflows in partnership with the Deployment Strategist so team workflows run reliably.
  • Demonstrate the platform, deliver training, and act directly on analyst and operator feedback.
  • Troubleshoot air-gapped environments where external registries, package managers, and standard debugging tools are unavailable.
  • Create test coverage for error cases, network failures, and disconnected-environment edge conditions.
  • Document engagement learnings and communicate them weekly to core engineering to shape the roadmap.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience deploying software in air-gapped or SCIF environments, including disconnected package management and offline container registries.
  • Prior work with Intelligence Community or Department of Defense tooling, data formats, or workflows in IL6+ environments.
  • Experience with agentic systems, large language model application development, or evaluation of non-deterministic systems.
  • Helm chart authoring, workflow orchestration such as Temporal, and graph databases for entity resolution.
  • Experience with Rancher, ArgoCD, or Harbor in restricted environments.
  • Experience with, or genuine willingness to learn, the J2 and intelligence processes used by customers, including the intelligence cycle, all-source fusion, JIPOE, the Joint Targeting Cycle, and F2T2EA.
  • Exposure to intelligence tooling such as i2 Analyst's Notebook, MARS/MIDB, PROTON, ArcGIS Pro, TAC, FADE/MIST, VOLTRON, Babel Street, Maltego, Dataminr, or Recorded Future.

About the company

Lumbra builds agentic frameworks and an orchestration layer that connects multiple AI tools for the U.S. Intelligence Community, enabling autonomous AI agents to collaborate at machine speed across different security classifications. Its platform provides a common control layer to coordinate diverse tools and securely execute cross-tool workflows. The team combines former intelligence operators with MIT-educated engineers, delivering domain-specific, security-conscious orchestration through a direct B2G approach with partners like the CIA and JSOC. Its goal is to speed up and unify intelligence processing by letting autonomous agents work together across tools and classification boundaries.

What believers are saying

  • Lumbra shows active 2026 engagements with the IC and CDAO.
  • Costanoa disclosed seed financing in March 2026, validating investor demand.
  • June 2026 Agent Network gives Lumbra a live path into Pentagon adoption.

What critics are saying

  • Agent Network is still unfielded; testing, evaluation, and oversight delay revenue.
  • Palantir owns Maven's targeting backbone, squeezing Lumbra into a dependent layer.
  • Governance failures across classification boundaries can kill deployment after one incident.

What makes Lumbra unique

  • CIA, JSOC, and MIT operators built Lumbra for classified-agent orchestration.
  • June 2026 Agent Network positions Lumbra beside Palantir in Pentagon workflows.
  • Costanoa backs a seed-stage platform, not a generic defense app.
