Requirements
  • RDMS certification in abdomen, obstetrics and gynecology, and breast as applicable.
  • At least 3 years of experience performing the required ultrasound and vascular studies.
  • Experience with vascular imaging, including arterial, venous, and Doppler studies.
  • Knowledge of digital imaging and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
  • English language proficiency, spoken and written.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Completion of Veterans Affairs-required training and credentialing.
  • Ongoing continuing education and competency verification.
  • Successful completion of a background check, immunizations, tuberculosis testing, and Veterans Affairs onboarding clearance.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above the shoulders during the work shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to carry up to 40 pounds a reasonable distance.
  • Ability to push and pull with 30 pounds of force.
  • Work authorization without employer sponsorship.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and position patients for ultrasound procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations of the abdomen, pelvis, renal system, small parts, obstetrics and gynecology, scrotal area, and chest.
  • Perform vascular studies, including carotid, venous Doppler, arterial studies, ankle-brachial index, and vein mapping.
  • Ensure optimal image quality and proper equipment settings.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
  • Monitor patients throughout procedures and respond to changes.
  • Document examinations and enter results into Veterans Affairs electronic systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper disinfection of equipment.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and Veterans Affairs clinical protocols.
  • Communicate with patients and clinical staff.
  • Document delayed examinations with the reason and a follow-up plan.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Philips EPIQ 7 or EPIQ 5 ultrasound systems.
