Requirements
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is required.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required, either American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers (or an AHA-recognized equivalent) or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, working outside in temperature extremes, working at elevated areas, and working in confined or cramped spaces.
  • Ability to perform job functions from kneeling positions; bend and twist at the waist; squat; perform pinching operations, gross motor activities, firm grasping and fine manipulation with the fingers and hands; reach overhead and in all directions; and perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders.
  • Ability to fully use both legs and use lower extremities for balance and coordination.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds unassisted; lift or lower objects weighing 50 pounds from or to the floor and from or to 36 inches unassisted; lift 25 pounds from 36 inches to overhead; and exert up to 50 pounds of force. Assistance from another healthcare worker is required when transferring patients beyond the specified force capacity.
  • Ability to maintain corrected 20/40 vision in one eye or both eyes; see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance; discriminate between colors; determine distance and relationships between objects; and maintain good peripheral vision.
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity with correction and tactile sensory function.
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations, work rotating shifts, and work overtime as required.
  • Ability to work in a latex-safe environment.
  • For selected positions, ability to maintain good olfactory sensory function and be physically qualified for respirator use initially and as required.
  • For RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013, with an associate or diploma degree in nursing, enrollment in an accredited BSN program is required within two years and successful completion of a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized, goal-directed patient care to patients and families at the competent level using the principles and practices of the nursing process.
  • Deliver safe and effective care and interact with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
  • Perform care during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures and electrophysiology procedures, including sedating, monitoring, scrubbing, and circulating, excluding complex ablation cases.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Nursing degree is preferred.
