Requirements
  • A minimum of three years of experience in progressively responsible human services functions, including at least one year in the autism community.
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field such as special education, psychology, or applied behavior analysis, with three years of experience working with young children with autism and their families; an associate's degree in a related field may substitute with five years of that experience.
  • A valid driver's license, adequate insurance when using a personal vehicle, a safe driving record, at least 21 years of age, at least one year holding a valid United States driver's license, and the ability to pass a driver's screening background check.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or a two-person lift, and assist clients with tasks of daily living.
  • Ability to operate a computer and office equipment, including a calculator, copier, and printer.
  • Ability to communicate with clients, staff, and external representatives and meet the specified vision requirements.
  • CPR certification within two weeks of hire.
  • First Aid certification within two weeks of hire.
  • Safety Care certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of human services, in-home programming, skill acquisition programs, functional communication, autism clinical interventions, trauma-informed service delivery, public benefits, operations management, advocacy, assessment, participatory planning, crisis intervention, financial management, and documentation requirements.
  • Experience working with families facing poverty, domestic violence, child abuse, substance abuse, housing instability, and other social and economic challenges.
  • Ability to provide leadership and team management to staff, balance competing priorities, make independent judgments, and work professionally and confidentially.
Responsibilities
  • Meet with families in their homes at least monthly and attend quarterly progress review meetings for waiver participants.
  • Meet monthly with the DDS Autism Clinical Manager and other relevant DDS staff to review individual cases.
  • Remain available and flexible to respond to family needs, including weeknights, weekend days, phone, text, and other communication methods as needed.
  • Facilitate development of person-centered Autism Support Plans and participate in Autism Plans of Care, including entering and maintaining consumer database data.
  • Support families in developing budgets based on Autism Support Plans and Plans of Care.
  • Help families review waiver participant budgets monthly using the Fiscal Employer/Agent website and reports.
  • Identify potential service providers, help families identify personal support networks, and conduct ongoing outreach to providers.
  • Assist families in selecting service providers while remaining neutral and maintaining a conflict-of-interest firewall.
  • Help families work with the Fiscal Employer/Agent to recruit, screen, hire, train, schedule, monitor, and pay support workers.
  • Assist families in accessing and setting up services according to Autism Waiver Program parameters.
  • Maintain required documentation in the DDS system of record.
  • Facilitate community access and inclusion to state and local resources, including MassHealth, private insurance applied behavior analysis, Children's Behavioral Health Initiative services, housing, nutrition, and funding sources.
  • Maintain professional relationships and boundaries with families and providers.
  • Report emergencies to the Autism Clinical Manager within two to three hours and contact emergency personnel or the Department of Children and Families when appropriate.
  • Act as a mandated reporter when required.
  • Report critical and related incidents in DDS systems.
  • Facilitate transitions to the DDS Area Office or other DDS programs.
  • Maintain an interface with state agencies, including the Department of Children and Families and MassHealth.
  • Direct and manage program staff activities, hire appropriate staff, and utilize staff to optimize effort and operational and financial goals.
  • Complete prospective-person intake, arrange and perform intake procedures, and assess program appropriateness.
  • Resolve problems for families and persons served and foster teamwork and leadership.
  • Maintain current knowledge of autism services, policies, and directives.
  • Ensure timely completion and quality of clinical, recordkeeping, and service, support, and action plans.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, licensing, certification, accreditation, and program-specific standards and regulations.
  • Assist in developing and managing adherence to Autism Waiver Program budgets.
  • Represent Vinfen in professional, trade, regulatory, and funding-source organizations and participate in committees and meetings.
  • Serve as a resource for program staff, families, friends, neighbors, public officials, and providers.
  • Manage adverse events and ensure corrective actions are implemented and reported.
  • Respond to internal and external data collection and reporting requests.
  • Ensure program quality, achievement of goals and objectives, and quality improvements.
  • Maintain and enhance knowledge of human services issues, trends, and techniques.
  • Ensure maintenance and safety of physical sites.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
