Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering and 5-10 years of engineering and analysis experience in industrial rotating machinery such as pumps, turbines, or compressors.
  • A concentration in the power generation or chemical process industries is beneficial.
  • A thorough understanding of pertinent codes, governing regulations, and industry practice.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specifications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering principles associated with the design, analysis, and operation of rotating machinery.
  • Proficiency in Mathcad, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, and the Internet.
  • Competency in SolidWorks.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail, organization, and motivation.
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level, non-supervisory engineering work involving broad assignments related to the aftermarket business.
  • Translate design specifications and code requirements into product designs, and oversee preparation of manufacturing drawings, procedures, and analytical design reports.
  • Review customer purchase orders for engineering content and completeness against design and contract requirements.
  • Provide documented technical and analytical support to clients regarding equipment operation outside original design parameters, regulatory compliance, equipment redeployment, failure modes, root-cause determination, installation, operation, maintenance, and technical oversight.
  • Write technical evaluations for customer revisions, material substitutions, and acceptable deviations from design.
  • Review and update legacy documents and drawings in compliance with codes, customer design specifications, and current company standards.
  • Research material equivalencies and prepare technical evaluations supporting equipment updates, repairs, overhauls, and maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical support to application sales, field service, shop service, and aftermarket sales regarding equipment application, specification interpretation, material recommendations, code compliance, and supplementary sales data.
  • Generate drawings and sketches for application engineering and provide technical support for aftermarket procurement and subcontract activities.
  • Review and disposition engineering change requests and determine the total engineering scope of requested changes.
  • Provide manufacturing-floor technical assistance to achieve design requirements and resolve conflicts involving parts, aftermarket units, and nuclear or safety-service jobs.
  • Disposition discrepant material reports related to ASME Code Sections I, III, and VIII and safety-related aftermarket units, parts, and service.
  • Apply analytical skills to rotating mechanical equipment design and analysis and mechanical engineering principles, including mechanical design, material selection, material science, electromechanical engineering, vibration, and failure analysis.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

  • Demonstrated experience using ASME Code Section VIII or Section III.
  • Experience in centrifugal pump engineering.
