Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, Systems Engineering, or a similar field is required.
  • At least 1 year of engineering experience is required.
  • Analytical skills related to mechanical drawings, schematics, and diagrams are required.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Project, are required.
  • Experience working in teams and independently is required.
  • Experience tracking and managing projects is required.
  • Experience handling multiple assignments in a dynamic environment is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Experience writing analysis reports and weekly reports is required.
  • The candidate must be a United States citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation.
Responsibilities
  • Work as an entry-level engineer in the Surface Systems Branch at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division.
  • Support rocket motor and energetic component in-service and production engineering.
  • Support fleet failure investigations.
  • Support energetic component and explosive testing and analysis.
  • Support failure investigations and configuration management of technical data.
  • Work on-site with other engineers on military programs supporting United States Navy warfare technology.
  • Track and manage projects.
  • Write analysis reports and weekly reports.
  • Travel as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with the design, analysis, and fundamentals of rocket motor propulsion.
  • Previous Department of Defense job experience.
  • Experience with MATLAB or a similar tool.
  • Experience with computer-aided design tools such as Creo or SolidWorks.
  • Hands-on experience testing ordnance and explosives.
  • A successfully completed current background investigation.
