Supermicro and Nokia bring NVIDIA AI-RAN computing to the network edge

Supermicro is working with Nokia to deploy AI radio access networks (AI-RAN), from distributed cell sites to centralised network hubs. The system pairs Nokia's RAN technology with the NVIDIA Aerial RAN Computer (ARC) platform and Supermicro's AI-optimised infrastructure. Placing accelerated compute closer to the access network lets operators run radio and AI workloads on shared infrastructure. It supports low-latency uses such as voice AI, vision AI, physical AI, and autonomous network operations, and offers a path to 6G. Supermicro's servers for NVIDIA ARC are available now. The ARC MGX 2U with dual Vera processor will follow later this year. The 2U ARC-Pro goes to customer testing later this year, with general availability in the first half of 2027.

Super Micro unveils OCP-based AI systems and names Mark Long CFO as market value hits $20.8B

Super Micro Computer (SMCI) has launched new AI and high performance computing data center products based on Open Compute Project (OCP) standards, aimed at rack-scale deployments. The expanded OCP Accepted portfolio covers systems, racks, liquid cooling gear, and networking hardware for dense, energy-efficient AI clusters. The US server and storage vendor, which has a market value of $20.8 billion, also named Mark Long as chief financial officer. Long previously worked at Western Digital, Hitachi's storage arm, and in investment banking, and has run large mergers and acquisitions programmes. The company aims to act more like a full data center supplier, alongside Dell and HPE. Its 149-day cash cycle remains a concern as it scales complex deployments.

Super Micro stock jumped 45% as $60B in new orders and a $7B raise signalled demand

Super Micro Computer shares rose 45.1% between July 17 and October 15, 2026, while the S&P 500 gained 4.1%. The server maker reported a record order backlog and set a fiscal 2027 revenue target of $65 billion to $72 billion. Executives had flagged a capital constraint on production in August 2025. On June 9, 2026, the company announced a $7.0 billion raise in stock and stock-linked securities to buy parts for AI orders. Shares closed 28% lower the next day. Super Micro took in over $60 billion of new orders in the quarter ended June, against $39.1 billion of sales in all of fiscal 2026. Why a sense of humour is a CEO's underrated leadership trait

Humour is an underrated leadership trait, writes Fortune's Diane Brady in the CEO Daily newsletter. She learned it this week when her lip bled during an onstage interview with Flex chief executive officer Revathi Advaithi at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit. Brady joked about it, and the moment led to a talk on vulnerability and Advaithi's decision to speak publicly about battling breast cancer as a CEO. Brady points to Richard Branson, Warren Buffett, and Apple's Tim Cook as leaders who laugh at themselves. Mark Zuckerberg's wince over a pint of Guinness also went viral. Her early lesson came from Mostafa Tolba, then head of the United Nations Environment Program: "Don't joke about serious subjects. Joke about me.
