Everstar has announced its collaboration with the US Department of Energy, Idaho National Laboratory, Argonne National Laboratory and Microsoft as part of the DOE's Genesis Mission to accelerate advancements in nuclear energy. The New York-based startup's Gordian AI platform converted a DOE safety analysis document into sections equivalent to an NRC licence application in one day, a process that typically takes experts four to six weeks. The company is developing AI tools to address bottlenecks across the nuclear energy value chain, including specialised models for interpreting engineering schematics, physics-based simulation through NVIDIA Omniverse for reactor design, and sensor integrations for nuclear-grade manufacturing. Everstar aims to reduce the cost of building American nuclear reactors by an order of magnitude whilst supporting deployment of 300 gigawatts of additional nuclear capacity.
Everstar, which develops AI-powered compliance solutions for nuclear energy projects, secured $5.5 million from Borusan Ventures in a funding round led by Third Prime VC. Other participants included Pelican Energy Partners, EXCEL Services, Virta Ventures, Generational Partners, Page One Ventures, and angel investors. The investment aims to accelerate the adoption of nuclear energy by simplifying regulatory processes and reducing costs.
Through its landmark partnership with EXCEL Services Corporation, the global leader in nuclear regulatory consulting, Everstar is developing an AI system that leverages EXCEL's unparalleled network of regulatory specialists and data archives.
