  • Create and pilot program assets in response to observations from program staff and needs identified by higher education partners, keeping scale and simplicity in view.
  • Translate research findings into design decisions that shape the structure, sequence, and facilitation of experiences, and partner with execution teams to ensure intended delivery.

  • Adjust designs in response to feasibility constraints and technology developments that affect scale.
  • Stay informed about Braven's in-person and digital products and developments in the field.
  • Define, execute, and evolve standards for high-quality program design, including experience structure, duration, learning assessment, and facilitation.
  • Ensure program experiences are grounded in adult learning science, cultural competence, and an understanding of Braven's students and their college-to-career transition.
  • Monitor career-readiness research, employer expectations, adult-learning practices, college career-preparation developments, and digital tools, and apply relevant knowledge to design work.
  • Design and deliver ongoing training to equip staff and volunteers to teach career-readiness topics and provide students with coherent, consistent guidance.
  • Design and deliver training on design intent so facilitators understand why experiences are built as they are and can make sound adaptations.
  • Build training and staff enablement into each new program from the outset.
  • Lead conversations with staff about future evolution of program experiences.
  • Lead, develop, and grow the design team responsible for design work across the full program experience.

  • Partner with program delivery, operations, and technology teams to identify design changes that enable scale and refine program architecture.
  • Help scope and grow the Design team as the organization scales.
  • Contribute to organization-wide strategy and support a healthy, high-performing culture for the immediate team and the broader organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About the company

Braven is a non-profit that partners with colleges, employers, and funders to help underrepresented and first-generation students move from college to strong first jobs. It delivers career readiness through the Braven Accelerator, a semester-long, credit-bearing course that blends online modules with in-person labs, with Fellows working in cohorts and receiving guidance from volunteer professionals. After the accelerator, Fellows get ongoing support via alumni programs, mentoring, and access to internships and jobs, guided by volunteer Leadership Coaches who also develop their own management skills. Braven works with public universities like San José State, National Louis University, Rutgers University–Newark, and Spelman College, and also offers BravenX, a fully virtual version with stipends for students outside partner campuses, all aimed at expanding networks, skills, and pathways to quality jobs and education equity.
