About 1 million prospective buyers have left the new car market since 2020, according to The Wall Street Journal, as inflation, high interest rates, and fuel costs keep them away. NAPA has just under 6,000 company-owned and independently owned stores in the US, selling parts and offering repair services. On October 20, Genuine reported third-quarter revenue of $6.5 billion, up 4.2% year on year. Net income fell 0.9% to $224 million, and the stock dropped 6.6% that day. Genuine Parts sales rise 4% to $6.5B as automotive and industrial split stays on track for 2027

Genuine Parts (NYSE: GPC) said its plan to split into two public companies remains on track for the first quarter of 2027. The automotive and industrial parts distributor made the announcement on its third-quarter earnings call on October 20, 2026. Sales rose 4% to $6.5 billion. Its Motion industrial unit generated $2.4 billion, helped by maintenance, repair, and operations demand, data centre construction, and artificial intelligence infrastructure spending.
