Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least one year of experience working with fire alarm systems, electronics maintenance, electrical systems, life safety systems, or a related field is required.
  • Knowledge of electronics, electrical systems, and fire alarm technologies is required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve system issues is required.
  • Ability to safely use testing equipment, meters, hand tools, and power tools is required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on fire detection and alarm systems.
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, and maintain fire alarm detection and suppression systems.
  • Support campus projects requiring fire alarm, smoke detector, or duct detector outages.
  • Isolate and re-enable fire detection systems during hot work activities, including welding and grinding operations.
  • Disable and restore duct detectors as needed to safely support maintenance and construction work.
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documents.
  • Follow National Electrical Code requirements, industry standards, and hospital safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance and testing activities.
  • Communicate with Facilities staff, contractors, and hospital personnel.
Desired Qualifications
  • NICET Level I Certification in Fire Alarm Systems or completion of the Fire Alarm Systems Level I Exam is preferred.
