Responsibilities
  • Lead and maintain an effective training and development program, providing coaching and mentorship to elevate team proficiency and support the growth of direct reports.
  • Track probe yield performance and trends to identify, characterize, and explain gaps between target and actual yields.
  • Perform advanced data analysis to quantify yield issues and generate yield paretos that guide fab priorities and improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with Process Integration, Probe, Process Engineering, Electrical Failure Analysis, and Physical Failure Analysis teams to correlate electrical signals, probe signatures, and physical findings into actionable process insights.
  • Partner with module, inline monitoring, and global teams to implement, monitor, and standardize yield fixes.
  • Discover yield issues in NAND development and identify metrics or combinations of metrics, such as wafer, die, or tile shading and ECATS, to quantify issues.
  • Interact with process area, process integration, yield, failure analysis, product engineering, design, and layout teams to define yield, cell, CMOS, qualification, and reliability issues, develop paretos, and derive improvement actions across technology nodes and designs.
  • Own and drive non-standard deep-dive statistical analysis of inline, probe, cell, and other critical metrics to define issues, enable early inline detection, and improve product yield and quality.
  • Quantify and track issue hit rate, line impact, gap to program goal, and yield improvement or downside resulting from process or probe changes.
  • Initiate data mining and correlation studies for new issues and initiate physical failure analysis requests to identify yield-issue root causes.
  • Perform inline correlation studies to establish inline predictions for yield issues and make yield projections based on expected improvement or downside.
  • Conduct yield trend analysis and identify root causes in process steps, conversions, algorithm changes, and design that cause yield shifts.
  • Continuously develop and redefine inline detection in collaboration with metrology and RDA teams.
  • Identify gaps in current testing and co-develop unique parametric or probe bins with product, probe, and parametric engineering teams to detect new failure modes and validate new program releases.
  • Collaborate with module owners to identify and quantify module deficiencies and technology gaps and drive cross-functional teams to address them.
  • Optimize existing layouts and conceptualize and develop innovative solutions that meet product requirements and manufacturability needs.
  • Develop and innovate techniques for extracting data from different databases through query languages and automate workflows through scripting.
  • Assist with transfer documentation of layout and architecture fundamentals for new technology from research and development to the manufacturing fab.
  • Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness while complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
  • Identify, test, and share AI-enabled enhancements within the scope of work.

Micron beats estimates for eighth quarter straight, says memory shortage has no end in sight

Micron Technology reported fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of $54.23 billion, beating the $50.97 billion consensus estimate. The company guided fiscal Q1 2027 revenue to $61.5 billion, well above Wall Street's $57 billion expectation. Chief executive Sanjay Mehrotra said the company has "no line of sight to when supply and demand will return to balance." He noted that more than 75% of Micron's 2027 output is already committed, with high-bandwidth memory largely sold out. Adjusted earnings per share reached $33.42, surpassing estimates of $31.35 for the eighth consecutive quarter. Gross margin hit 87%, above the company's prior forecast of roughly 86%. Mehrotra said memory conditions will remain "much tighter in fiscal 2027 and 2028", with HBM prices significantly higher than 2026 levels.

However, Micron shares dropped after hours following the announcement of increased capital expenditures for fiscal 2027. The company plans to boost spending on cleanroom construction to accelerate capacity expansion, with capex expected to reach around $25 billion in the first half of fiscal 2027.

Data centres require substantial amounts of DRAM and flash storage for AI processors, both of which Micron produces. Boeing wins $20B+ Navy fighter contract, Moderna drops in premarket

Micron could surge 271% by 2031 as AI drives insatiable demand for high-performance memory

Micron Technology is investing heavily in artificial intelligence memory production as demand for high-bandwidth memory surges. In its fiscal 2026 third quarter ended May 28, the company reported $41.5 billion in revenue, up from $9.3 billion a year earlier. The chip maker announced plans to invest more than $250 billion in US manufacturing through 2035, including new facilities in New York and Idaho. Its first Idaho factory is expected to begin producing wafers in mid-2027. Micron also launched a $10 billion research initiative and a $250 million venture fund focused on emerging technologies.
