Roblox experience is powered by microservices. As a Senior Software Engineer for our Application Networking Team, we focus on application networking, e.g., ingress gateways and service mesh, to connect and secure Roblox’s services. The ingress layer steers user traffic from the edge data centers to the core data centers; the gateway fronts Roblox core DCs; the service mesh routes the requests between services in the core data centers. We are building our next-generation ingress, gateways, and mesh based on industry-leading open-source projects to scale with Roblox’s business.

You will:

Help to set the technical vision of the application networking domain
Execute with teammates and stakeholders to realize our vision while supporting legacy solutions
Deliver high-quality code and design whiling holding a bar for the team
Influence the design across networking and infrastructure
Mentor and grow engineers on the team

You have:

5+ years of working experience and experience in building, maintaining and evolving large scale distributed systems.
Preferably, knowledge in the application networking domain
Experience with maintain tier-0 critical systems
BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience; Master’s degree or higher is a definite plus

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

$189,110—$233,840 USD

Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
