Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- The ability to induce anesthesia, intubate patients, and maintain strong knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile procedures is required.
- Experience with anesthesia monitoring and proper sterilization protocols, including autoclave and gas sterilizers, is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures, including patient preparation, monitoring, and recovery.
- Prepare and maintain surgical instruments.
- Administer anesthesia and monitor vital signs throughout surgery.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterility of the surgical suite.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Provide proper post-operative care.
- Conduct pre-operative assessments and obtain patient histories.
- Educate clients on postoperative care and follow-up appointments.
Desired Qualifications
- Certification as a Certified Veterinary Technician, Licensed Veterinary Technician, or Registered Veterinary Technician is preferred but not required.
- Experience in surgical veterinary medicine is preferred.
