Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A Class A or Class B commercial driver's license with an air brake endorsement is required, along with meeting insurance requirements.
  • Welding and fabrication skills are required.
  • The ability to repeatedly lift up to 75 pounds unassisted is required.
  • Candidates must participate in a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
  • Candidates must have strong mechanical aptitude, commitment to quality work, customer service ability, independence, resourcefulness, and time-management skills.
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including filling tanks, checking oil, conducting inspections, and stocking the mobile service vehicle with required tools and parts.
  • Complete repairs according to original equipment manufacturer specifications, warranty requirements, and company guidelines.
  • Use repair orders and diagnostic tools to identify issues and execute repair plans.
  • Repair truck systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, and electronics.
  • Apply diesel mechanic expertise, specialized DTNA training, and knowledge of engines, transmissions, and vendor product lines to complete repairs and installations.
  • Record diagnostic findings, repair progress, and completed work in the Dealer Management System and Service Notes.
  • Communicate repair information to customers and the Service office to support warranty processing.
  • Assess warranty claim status and complete the documentation and steps required for warranty recovery.
  • Conduct road tests to verify that repairs resolve customer concerns and meet quality standards.
  • Provide on-site repairs and fleet maintenance at customer locations, dealership facilities, and roadside locations.
Desired Qualifications
  • A certificate from a diesel technician training program is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of hands-on heavy-duty truck service experience in a shop setting may substitute for the preferred training certificate.
  • HVAC certification is desirable.
  • Certifications or experience with Cummins IS Series, Allison Transmission, Caterpillar engines, Eaton, and Meritor are desirable.
