About the job

Requirements
  • Marketing leadership experience, ideally through a comparable growth-stage transition.
  • SaaS experience.
  • Demand generation experience, including direct ownership of a pipeline or marketing-qualified-lead number.
  • Content marketing experience spanning search engine optimization and answer engine optimization.
  • Performance marketing experience across paid channels, including rigorous, ecommerce-style paid acquisition.
  • Technical fluency in attribution and conversion tracking, with hands-on experience setting it up or debugging it.
  • Comfort thriving with ambiguity by moving quickly from a symptom to a hypothesis and adjusting as more information becomes available.
  • A track record of diagnosing the real constraint behind underperformance, such as attribution gaps or a content-to-conversion mismatch, and acting on it directly.
  • Comfort being the single accountable owner on cross-functional work, delegating pieces while retaining responsibility for the outcome.
  • Ability to lead by example and reinforce standards.
  • Ability to make campaign, content, and channel decisions personally and remain deeply involved in the details.
  • WordPress or content management systems.
  • AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Open Code, or Cursor.
  • Project management tools such as Slack, Jira, or Confluence.
  • Google Analytics.
  • Google Search Console.
  • Bing Search Console.
  • Meta channels.
  • Google Sheets.
Responsibilities
  • Own global demand generation execution across marketing design, product marketing, performance marketing, social media marketing, marketing operations, and content engineering.
  • Own the performance of the demand generation engine, including content production, paid-channel performance marketing, and marketing operations infrastructure for outbound systems, data, and reporting; decide what is core infrastructure and what remains ad hoc.
  • Own the marketing organization across Performance Marketing, Content Engineering, Marketing Design, and Product Marketing, including the hiring bar and sourcing capacity, org design, headcount plan, budget, and performance, promotion, and exit decisions for function leads and their teams.
  • Run the marketing operating cadence, including quarterly initiative planning and performance scoreboards; cut initiatives that are not producing results.
  • Define and jointly document the boundary between marketing's demand creation, content, brand, and paid acquisition remit and the VP of Growth's product-led activation and post-activation remit; revisit it as the business changes.
  • Set the department's AI adoption target, decide what to automate first, report measured gains to the executive team, and own related brand and data-privacy risks.
  • Build reliable turnaround infrastructure between Product Marketing and Design so requests move on a predictable cycle.
  • Continue the content roadmap and help finalize the next content clusters.
  • Improve brand visibility in search engines and answer engines.
  • Improve performance marketing through retargeting iteration, channel-level lead-value measurement, and quarterly paid budget allocation.
  • Build marketing operations as infrastructure, including outbound systems, marketing data infrastructure, and clear ownership of reporting and web infrastructure.
  • Represent marketing to the CEO and executive team, translating company strategy into marketing priorities.
  • Work with the VP of Growth to resolve and document ownership boundaries where they are ambiguous.
  • Partner with Operations on org design, levelling, compensation, and hiring.
  • Stay aligned with Sales and Customer Success on pipeline and customer outcomes.
  • Maintain visibility into Engineering and Product roadmaps and launches, including new Storm capabilities, so marketing and launch content are ready on time.
  • Personally make and defend campaign, content, and channel decisions.
  • Own attribution and conversion-tracking rigor across the funnel.
  • Set the breakdown standard for quarterly marketing initiative planning.
  • Coach Content Engineering, Marketing Design, Performance Marketing, and Product Marketing leads on direction and standards.
  • Make build, buy, and partner decisions about marketing tooling and the AI-era search stack.
  • Within 90 days, make campaign, content, and channel decisions personally and identify a decision that has measurably improved performance with supporting data.
  • Within 90 days, document and agree with the VP of Growth on the division of responsibilities.
  • Within 90 days, assign a named owner and success measure to every quarterly marketing initiative.
  • Within 90 days, provide the CEO in writing with the three most concerning aspects of the current growth engine and a proposed plan.
  • Within six months, measurably increase the number of marketing-qualified leads converting into sales pipeline without reducing content quality.
  • Within six months, integrate AI-driven search into the content production process and establish a predictable content schedule.
  • Within six months, reshape the following quarter's priorities based on the VP's judgment.
  • Within 12 months, measurably improve the demand generation engine while preserving what already works.
  • Within 12 months, establish a quarterly planning and reporting rhythm that does not depend on the VP personally holding every detail together.
  • Within 12 months, develop someone who can step into at least one key leadership role on the team.
Desired Qualifications
  • Vertical technology background.
  • Experience building or owning marketing websites.
  • Growth experience or experience working closely with a growth leader or team.

What believers are saying
