About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in product strategy and system architecture.
  • Experience in product management.
  • Experience with user-centered design and AI platforms.
Responsibilities
  • Set the platform goal and strategy by articulating a bold product strategy and multi-year roadmap for evolving Wear OS for the next generation of wearables across various form factors.
  • Drive the third-party partner motion and partner closely with external original equipment manufacturers, silicon providers, and device makers to scale Wear OS and core Google services to meet their hardware and commercial needs.
  • Bridge user experience and technical architecture and translate consumer needs, including quiet proactivity, glanceable user interfaces, multi-day battery life, and seamless cross-device continuity, into system architecture, resource tradeoffs, and developer software development kits.
  • Advocate an AI-first builder and developer model and pioneer AI-native workflows in how the team prototypes and ships software, while designing an agentic developer platform that empowers internal teams and external developers to build and adapt wearable experiences.
  • Define and execute the strategy to evolve Wear OS into a modular, extensible platform that powers the next generation of ambient AI wearables.
  • Work at the center of Google's multi-device wearables strategy, bridging foundational software architecture, Gemini intelligence, and third-party original equipment manufacturer partnerships to support new form factors beyond traditional smartwatches.
  • Guide products from conception to launch by connecting technical and business considerations.
  • Break down complex problems into steps that drive product development.
  • Guide products throughout the execution cycle, focusing on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring solutions to users.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience navigating complex commercial platform tradeoffs across device tiers, cross-device experiences, and third-party ecosystem business models.
  • Deep user empathy and product taste for building high-signal consumer experiences that solve real friction rather than shipping isolated features.
  • Track record of co-innovating with external hardware original equipment manufacturers, silicon partners, or developers, balancing flagship showcases with scalable platform adoption.
  • Ability to move fluidly between product strategy and low-level system architecture, partnering with engineers to evolve operating system architecture.
  • Fluency with AI and agentic tools, with a clear perspective on how AI reshapes operating system architectures and developer ecosystems.

About the company

Google runs the world's most used search engine and free services such as YouTube, Android, and Gmail, and it builds the Gemini AI models that work inside them. In 2017, its researchers invented the transformer, the neural network design behind ChatGPT and most other AI chatbots. People use these services without paying, and Google earns most of its money from ads placed beside search results and YouTube videos. Businesses rent computing power and Gemini models through Google Cloud, and Google also sells subscriptions and Pixel phones. Larry Page and Sergey Brin founded Google in 1998 as Stanford PhD students; it is based in Mountain View, California, United States, and is the main business of parent company Alphabet.
