Requirements
  • Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Has a minimum of 2 years of directly related work experience.
  • Holds certification or licensure in a healthcare discipline providing care or service directly to patients.
  • Possesses a strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction.
  • Meets faculty credentials outlined in the Academic Support and Operations Manual for the specific area or areas of instruction.
  • Conducts activities with appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with college policy and course objectives.
  • Uses available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops and maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and instructional materials.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, attendance, and other required documentation.
  • Engages students through active classroom teaching strategies focused on learning.
  • Interacts with students and coworkers professionally and cooperatively while complying with college policies and campus guidelines.
  • Implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, laboratories, and learning environments.
  • Delivers assigned classes using pedagogy and technology that support student learning and align with course objectives and program learning outcomes.
  • Develops and maintains curriculum and supporting course materials aligned with course objectives and program learning outcomes.
  • Manages a classroom environment conducive to student learning and compliant with federal, state, and college safety standards.
  • Facilitates student achievement of expected program learning outcomes.
  • Uses a learning management system such as Ivy Learn or Canvas for teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.
  • Provides academic coaching and academic monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with professional academic advising staff.
  • Monitors and documents student performance throughout the semester and provides interventions, including student communication, tutoring, academic support, and referrals to college resources.
  • Maintains posted office hours and student engagement hours according to campus expectations and faculty loading policy.
  • Promotes and assists with student recruitment, retention, and successful program completion through phone, technology tools, and electronic outreach.
  • Participates in professional development, scheduled training, related industry onsite activities, and self-study to advance instructional and technical skills and current field knowledge.
  • Participates in scholarly activities related to the discipline or instructional focus as required for performance plans, certification, and licensure.
  • Stays current in contemporary pedagogy, digital technology, and technology related to teaching.
  • Participates in community service activities on behalf of the college.
  • Develops community, industry, and business contacts to advance college relationships within the service area.
  • Participates in committees, task forces, accreditation projects, and grant-related projects as requested by college administration.
  • Supports and engages with Corporate College and Development.
  • Attends commencement and participates in assignments from regional administration.
  • Participates in college, campus-wide, departmental, divisional, and faculty meetings.
  • Participates in career service and alumni activities.
  • Supports the program or department chair in program management activities.
  • Adheres to college and regional academic policies and applicable regulatory requirements, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

  • Possesses current instructor-level certification appropriate to the course being taught.
