Requirements
At minimum, have a high school diploma or equivalent.
A valid driver's license is required.
Responsibilities
Know and adhere to STAR’s policies and procedures.
Coordinate and communicate with all other departments as needed.
Ensure the department’s continuous compliance with ACA, PREA, and departmental CBCF and BCS standards.
Provide reinforcers and corrective actions to STAR residents as needed to meet the 4:1 ratio.
Conduct classes weekly.
Conduct individual sessions to address barriers identified within the program.
Document information appropriately within 24 hours.
Complete detailed and individualized case notes.
Attend house meetings for the assigned house to relay pertinent information regarding resident progress and concerns.
Suggest ways to improve programming for residents.
Complete other jobs assigned by management and adhere to all duties listed on the Program Specialist job duties form.
Desired Qualifications
An associate’s degree in a human service or criminal justice field and/or a bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
Experience in case management, corrections, behavioral health, or social services is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with evidence-based practices, risk/needs assessments, and re-entry programming is a plus.
Program Specialist Job Description
Position Summary:
The Program Specialist works with residents to ensure all programming needs are met, while reporting directly to the Program Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Know and adhere to STAR’s policies and procedures
Coordinate/communicate with all other departments as needed

Appropriately document information within 24 hours

Attend House Meetings for respective house assignment to relay pertinent information regarding resident progress and concerns
Suggest ways to make programming better for the resident
Complete any other jobs assigned to by management
Adhere to all duties listed on the Program Specialist job duties form
PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS:
Staff holding this position will be evaluated on the following intervals of employment: 90th day, 6 month, 1 year, and annually thereafter

Position Skills: Knowledge of STAR’s Treatment Model, Teaching Effectiveness, Use of Redirection Techniques and Behavioral Reinforcements, Effective Intervention Strategies, Resident Advocacy, Development of Therapeutic Alliance, and Development of Self Efficacy.
Qualifications and Skills:
