Requirements
  • A Master's degree in education, counseling, counselor education, psychology, special education, student personnel, or a related field is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of recruitment, academic mentoring, and follow-up tracking is required.
  • At least two years of experience in a student support services setting at a four-year college or university is required.
  • At least two years of experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in a higher education setting, is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Experience developing student programming that fosters confidence-building, leadership, and academic skills is required.
  • Ability to teach in individual and small-group instructional settings is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of academic, career, and advising principles and practices is required.
  • Experience providing academic advisement in higher education or a related field is required.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, customer service, communication, and time-management skills, with attention to detail and follow-through, are required.
  • Demonstrated initiative and experience working with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds are required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and student databases is required.
  • Experience working with college students from diverse educational, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, physical, and learning-disability backgrounds is required.
  • A background check is required.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate recruitment, enrollment, and academic support for participants in the SSS - Access (Disability) program.
  • Assist in supervising SSS programming, budget management, recruitment initiatives, and social media presence.
  • Conduct academic monitoring and follow-up tracking.
  • Collect and organize data needed to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate SSS advisors, peer coaches, and faculty coaches.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a tracking system for enrollment and academic progress.
  • Serve as an academic advisor for program participants.
  • Assist with coordinating developmental education in mathematics, English, or reading.
  • Assist the SSS Executive Director with writing reports, evaluations, and budgets.
  • Collect, monitor, and maintain participant records.
  • Assist with recruiting and selecting SSS participants.
  • Meet regularly with participants to monitor progress and complete a Student Success Plan for each participant.
  • Support participants with graduate school admissions and financial aid.
  • Provide academic advising, career, financial literacy, and scholarship activities for participants.
  • Assist in developing and implementing orientations for new participants.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative efforts on and off campus to identify scholarship, job-shadowing, and internship opportunities for participants.
  • Support completion and submission of Annual Performance Reports for the SSS Program.
  • Design and implement activities and services to increase participant retention and graduation rates.
  • Coordinate collaborative student-driven activities between TRIO Programs, including conferences and graduate school visits.
  • Serve on assigned committees and participate in professional organizations and TRIO conferences.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the SSS Executive Director.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience working on a federally funded program is preferred.
