About the company

Broadcom designs chips and sells infrastructure software for the companies that run large data centers, telecom networks and corporate IT. Its custom AI processors, built with cloud companies, and its Ethernet switch chips move and process data inside the computer clusters that train AI models. The chip business also makes parts for broadband, wireless, storage and industrial equipment, sold to device makers and cloud operators, while VMware software lets businesses run private clouds and is sold by subscription. Broadcom took its current form in 2016, when Avago Technologies, formed in 2005 from Agilent's chip unit, bought Broadcom Corporation, and it is based in Palo Alto, California.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • AI demand is surging: AI chip sales more than tripled to $16.7 billion in the quarter ended August 2026.
  • Big orders are booked ahead: Anthropic agreed in April 2026 to take 3.5 gigawatts of Broadcom-built TPU capacity from 2027.
  • Jobs sit on deep profits: Broadcom converts almost half its revenue into free cash, 46% in the August 2026 quarter.

What critics are saying

  • Jobs hinge on one channel: a single distributor bought 32% of Broadcom's fiscal 2025 revenue, up from 28%.
  • Regulators face pressure to act: in July 2026 European cloud firms urged EU antitrust chiefs to pause VMware partner cuts.
  • Software customers resent the pricing: Broadcom swapped VMware's permanent licenses for subscriptions, angering many corporate buyers.

What makes Broadcom unique

  • Broadcom builds chips that customers design: it turns Google's TPU AI processor designs into finished silicon.
  • Broadcom also runs a big software arm: infrastructure software, led by VMware, made 30% of quarterly revenue in August 2026.
  • Broadcom grows by buying: it acquired CA Technologies in 2018, Symantec's enterprise unit in 2019 and VMware in 2023.

Broadcom, Crocs and Alphabet flagged as undervalued on cash flow, with Broadcom at $1.65T

A cash flow screen from Simply Wall St has flagged Broadcom, Crocs, and Alphabet as potentially undervalued. The screen found 90 more companies that the article does not cover. Broadcom has a market value of about $1.65 trillion. Its Semiconductor Solutions arm brings in about $59.4 billion in revenue, and Infrastructure Software about $29.7 billion. The software unit, which includes VMware, drives the screen's interest. Crocs, worth about $6.9 billion, sells Crocs and HEYDUDE footwear. The bullish case assumes brand momentum holds and HEYDUDE stabilises in the second half of 2026. Alphabet is valued at about $3.5 trillion. Google Cloud, now third globally with over 11% market share, adds recurring cash flows to its advertising business.

Ex-SEC chair Gensler likens Broadcom's $63B Anthropic chip package to 2008 off-balance-sheet deals

Banks plan to sell up to about $21 billion of high-grade bonds as soon as early next year, part of a $63 billion package Broadcom assembled so Anthropic can buy its chips, Bloomberg reported. Former SEC Chair Gary Gensler said the deal, which is not yet in Anthropic's IPO filing, feels like "that 08 off-balance sheet craze." He also questioned guarantees written by Broadcom, NVIDIA, and AMD. A special purpose company buys the chips and leases them to Anthropic, whose payments repay the debt. Banks are lending about $42 billion, with Blackstone anchoring the rest, and Broadcom backs that senior debt against a fall in the chips' value. Broadcom shares trade at 20x forward earnings, well below the three-year average of 30x. Its annual report, due in December, will show how large its backstops have grown.

Cramer says hold Broadcom, buy Coca-Cola after 33% rally and earnings beat

Jim Cramer told a "Mad Money" caller on October 28 to hold Broadcom and buy Coca-Cola. "I wouldn't shoot Broadcom, and I would buy Coca-Cola," he said. Coca-Cola shares are up about 33% this year, beating every Magnificent 7 stock. Broadcom is down 0.31% after hitting an all-time high of $495 in June 2026. Coca-Cola reported third-quarter revenue of $13.4 billion, up 7% and above the $12.9 billion estimate. Earnings per share rose 11% to $0.91. It raised full-year earnings growth guidance to at least 11%, from 9%-10%. Broadcom's AI chip revenue is projected to exceed $115 billion in fiscal 2027. The stock has returned 603.64% over five years.

Broadcom raises equity to fuel AI data-centre growth while keeping dividend appeal

Broadcom confirmed in early March that it is taking part in an equity financing round of common and preferred shares. The money will fund its expansion in AI data-centre capabilities. Preferred shares give investors priority on dividends and liquidation, while common shares offer a direct stake in the company's growth. Broadcom has raised its annualised dividend for five years, though analysts question whether reinvesting the cash would earn more over the long term. The share price has been modestly volatile, even as peers such as NVIDIA, AMD, and Cisco gained on AI demand. Broadcom is seeking long-term contracts with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. It faces competition from Intel, Graphcore, and Cerebras.

Blackstone unveils $63B Broadcom financing deal with BofA, Citi and Morgan Stanley

Blackstone has announced a $63 billion financing deal with Broadcom and a group of banks that includes Bank of America, Citi, and Morgan Stanley. Its shares edged higher on the day, trading at $119.06. The asset manager has a market value near $136.61 billion. Fifty of 93 analysts rate the stock a buy, with a median price target of $138, about 15.9% above the current level. Shares sit at support around $118.74 and trade below their 50-day and 200-day moving averages. A close above $125.04 would signal buyers are following through, while a drop below $118.74 would suggest the move is fading.
