About the job
- A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Logistics, combined with 3–5+ years of direct experience in trade compliance or customs brokerage.
- Proficiency in enterprise software systems such as SAP GTS or Oracle GTM.
- Deep knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedules.
- A good understanding of U.S. export control regulations and regional tax and value-added tax laws.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, time-management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.
- Oversee the product life cycle, including supply chain, warehousing, transportation, and inventory of goods.
- Arrange and track inbound and outbound shipments, negotiate freight rates, optimize routing, and manage the physical movement of raw materials or finished products by road, rail, air, or sea.
- Monitor stock levels, manage warehouses, and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
- Prepare bills of lading, manage customs clearance paperwork, maintain regulatory records, and ensure adherence to safety and trade regulations.
- Resolve shipping or customs-clearance delays.
- Liaise with customs brokers and freight forwarders to prepare and audit commercial invoices, certificates of origin, and other shipping documents.
- Serve as the main liaison between suppliers, carriers, and clients to resolve fulfillment issues and meet delivery timelines.
- Provide secure, strategic warehousing for goods between production and consumer demand.
- Identify and resolve logistical bottlenecks, transit delays, and fulfillment errors.
- Manage Free Trade Agreements, country-of-origin determinations, and duty drawback programs.
- Monitor internal controls, lead customs audits, and prepare standard operating procedures to mitigate corporate risk.
- Advise on global value-added tax strategies for cross-border transactions and oversee the calculation, reporting, and recovery of import/export VAT and duties.
- Partner with finance and indirect tax teams to calculate and apply correct VAT, duties, and Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes and optimize recovery on cross-border transactions.
- Ensure global shipments comply with U.S. export regulations, including ITAR and EAR, OFAC restrictions, and denied-party screening.
- Classify goods, secure export licenses, and maintain export documentation.
- Influence cross-functional teams and external vendors to support logistics and compliance operations.
