About the job

Requirements
  • Deep, practitioner-level knowledge of banking and financial services regulation, ideally gained inside a bank, regulatory body, financial infrastructure provider, or specialized advisory firm.
  • An established industry reputation and expertise that earns immediate confidence from institutional compliance teams.
  • A demonstrable track record of using regulatory expertise to accelerate outcomes, such as closing diligence processes faster, unblocking product decisions, or enabling market entry.
  • Understanding of how banks evaluate third-party risk, conduct vendor diligence, and make deployment decisions for regulated technology.
  • Experience designing or materially evolving compliance and risk frameworks.
  • Comfort engaging directly with senior stakeholders, including bank executives, regulators, board members, and enterprise sales counterparts.
  • Working understanding of AI governance and regulatory questions arising when AI is applied to financial decision-making, along with intellectual curiosity to stay current as the field evolves.
  • Willingness to work hands-on in an early-stage environment rather than manage a team that builds.
Responsibilities
  • Represent Monstro in discussions with banks' compliance, risk, and regulatory stakeholders during vendor diligence and deployment, resolving concerns credibly and promptly.
  • Participate in industry forums, regulatory working groups, and policy consultations as a voice on AI and financial services compliance.
  • Build proactive relationships with regulators.
  • Support enterprise sales by providing authoritative answers to compliance and risk questions in real time.
  • Define and maintain Monstro's regulatory posture across U.S. and international markets, including open banking rules, consumer data protections, and emerging AI governance frameworks.
  • Develop positions on questions such as how AI-driven financial guidance relates to regulated advice, how data flows within banking ecosystems, and how Monstro is classified as a vendor.
  • Anticipate regulatory changes and prepare Monstro in advance.
  • Partner with leadership on market expansion by sequencing entry into new jurisdictions with regulatory pathways mapped.
  • Work alongside product and engineering teams as the authoritative voice on what regulated financial institutions will accept, providing decisions rather than deliberations.
  • Define practical guardrails for AI outputs, including financial guidance boundaries, model explainability standards, and human oversight requirements.
  • Translate regulatory expectations into concrete product requirements early in development so compliance is built in and rework is minimized.
  • Identify risks in proposed product directions early and propose solutions.
  • Ensure regional regulatory variations are understood and reflected in product decisions.
  • Design Monstro's enterprise risk and compliance architecture, including policy frameworks, risk registers, and governance processes appropriate for a global financial infrastructure provider.
  • Build robust, lean frameworks that satisfy institutional scrutiny without unnecessarily slowing the business.
  • Own the trust and assurance roadmap with security and engineering, including SOC 2, data governance standards, and enterprise security expectations.
  • Establish processes that support rapid expansion into new markets without compliance becoming a bottleneck.
