Requirements
- Experience in network administration involving switches, wireless local area network controllers, wireless access points, and firewalls.

- Experience in network data and application monitoring and response time analysis.
- Experience with equipment configuration, software and hardware changes.
- Vendor management and coordination.
- Liaison with telecommunications providers for outage resolution and problem resolution.
- Inventory management and asset tracking.
- Experience supporting customer migrations or upgrades of network infrastructure.
- Analysis of WAN circuits and recommendations to adjust circuits (increase/decrease).
- Coordination for lease line procurement and commissioning from third party vendors.
- Monitoring of backup network to ensure business continuity.
- Monitoring port utilization at device level (CPU, memory, free memory, buffers, failures).
- Management of critical ports and fault monitoring.
- Scalable SNMP event collection, filtering, and correlation.
- Tracking hardware and software faults and maintaining port-level inventory.
- Maintaining properties of ports, modules, devices, and VLANs.
- Pinging, SNMP traps and syslog to identify network failures.
- Identify affected users and devices from port failures.
- Managing internet access service.
- Device hardware maintenance and change management.
- Device management, link management and SLA management.
- Identify potential points of failure and critical segments; study data link redundancy and backup plans.
- Reviewing routing policies and studying traffic patterns for local traffic.
- Identification, isolation, and rectification of response time problems; protocol analysis and fine tuning.
- Proactive fault detection and management and prioritization of network events by business impact.
- Logs and spares logistics for movement to various locations.
- Study of network infrastructure and backup strategy.
- LAN and WAN network performance management and performance rating of components.
- Recommendations on network design optimization and review/testing of backup devices.
- IP address design and management; IP address schema review.
- Implementation of spanning tree for redundancy; review routing policies for efficient resources.
- Upgrades and technology enhancements recommendations.
- Overall supervision of team and keeping track of service level agreements; root cause analysis of degradation.
- Cable patching for data centre premises (fiber and copper) limited to switch to patch panel.
- Upgrade router IOS.
- Process compliance including change control and ticketing updates.
- Trouble ticket generation and tracking through resolution.
- Intelligent tagging of events by severity and problem prioritization.
- Creating level 1 standard operating procedures as defined by customer.
- Tracking severity of problems (moderate and severe).
- Archive, restore configurations and maintain configuration backups.
- Threshold violation alerts through email, pager and short message service.
- Engaging OEM support for escalations or support needs.
- Establishing new policies and processes in consensus with customer.
Responsibilities
- Monitor link status, traffic, and critical network parameters; configure links on network operations center systems for alerting and threshold monitoring.
- Consolidate trend reports on a regular basis and monitor data networks including data center LAN/WAN performance.
- Perform equipment configuration, software and hardware changes, and device management across network devices.
- Coordinate with vendors and liaise with telecommunications providers for outage resolution and problem resolution.
- Maintain inventory management and track port-level details including CPU, memory utilization, free memory, buffers, and failures.
- Provide support for customer migrations or upgrades of network infrastructure and participate in WAN circuit analysis and recommendations for changes to circuits (increase/decrease).
- Coordinate lease line procurement and commissioning with third-party vendors; monitor backup network to ensure business continuity.
- Monitor critical ports and faults; implement scalable SNMP event collection, filtering, and correlation; identify failures and affected users/devices; monitor Internet access service.
- Maintain port, module, device, and VLAN properties; perform IP address design and management; implement and review spanning tree for redundancy; review routing policies; study traffic patterns; proactive fault detection and management.
- Prioritize network events by business impact; review and fine-tune protocols; perform proactive fault detection and response time optimization.
- Logistics for spares movement; study backup strategy and data center network infrastructure; perform LAN/WAN performance management and component performance rating.
- Provide operational guidance including change control processes, trouble ticketing with updates, ISO standard operating procedures creation, and problem prioritization.
- Archive and restore configurations; maintain configuration backups; generate historical performance reports; enable OEM support and escalate as needed; establish new policies and processes with customer.
