About the job

Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience as a machine learning engineer, applied scientist, or forward deployed engineer focused on deep learning for search, recommendation, or retrieval systems.
  • Deep proficiency in PyTorch, deep learning theory, and machine learning algorithms, specifically multi-stage scoring and embedding models.
  • Hands-on experience designing and optimizing large-scale, distributed data pipelines using Spark, Airflow, and dbt across Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services environments.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Airflow, Terraform, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform for scalable model deployment and experimentation environments.
  • Ability to tackle open-ended, highly complex systems challenges using first-principles thinking.
  • Ability to drive customer outcomes from early prototyping and training through live production inference.
Responsibilities
  • Work directly within customer environments to design, build, and deploy production ranking and recommendation models that optimize business conversion, engagement, and lifetime value.
  • Engineer end-to-end ranking pipelines, embedding generation schemas, nearest-neighbor retrieval systems, and low-latency model serving infrastructure.
  • Deliver high-touch deployment support inside large consumer enterprise environments and integrate solutions with existing data ecosystems and business logic.
  • Design and maintain production-grade, highly optimized data pipelines for massive datasets and continuously refreshed training and inference features.
  • Identify and modularize repeatable deployment patterns across industry verticals and contribute insights to core product and engineering teams.
  • Manage the entire machine learning lifecycle, including model monitoring, A/B testing frameworks, performance regression detection, and continuous retraining strategies.
  • Maintain active expertise in deep learning developments, including multi-stage retrieval, learning-to-rank, and large-scale personalization techniques.
  • Build relationships with client engineering teams and identify opportunities to deploy ranking solutions that create additional customer value.
  • Represent Sequen AI's technical vision to major consumer platforms.
  • Balance algorithmic complexity with microsecond runtime latency constraints and prioritize real-world conversion metrics.
  • Design, deploy, and validate revenue-generating prototypes while maintaining production stability and avoiding debilitating technical debt.
  • Engage with research scientists and enterprise executives to identify technical opportunities throughout client engagements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience deploying high-throughput personalization systems in retail, travel, or media and entertainment.
  • Familiarity with usage-based, value-based, or lift-share pricing models.
  • Peer-reviewed publications, such as KDD, CIKM, or RecSys, or registered patents in search, matching, or personalization.
  • Experience supporting developer-focused, product-led narratives alongside enterprise-scale sales cycles.

About the company

Sequen AI provides a behavior design and ranking platform for enterprise apps. Its Large Event Model predicts the next user action from billions of event sequences to enable in-session personalization, search, and recommendations via a sub-20ms API. It uses reinforcement learning to optimize outcomes like conversion and revenue, shaping experiences rather than just observing behavior. The platform targets enterprise customers and heavy usage, offering an AI-native solution that integrates with existing systems to drive revenue through more relevant experiences.
