  • Ability to work with little supervision, prioritize multiple tasks, meet aggressive deadlines, and work extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and learn new technology domains.
  • Ability to move throughout the facilities, occasionally climb stairs, bend and reach, use standard computer and telephone equipment, sit or stand for extended periods, and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Own board-level hardware design from requirements review and architecture definition through component selection, schematic capture, printed circuit board layout support, prototype bring-up, design-for-manufacturing and design-for-test review, verification, and production release.
  • Create and maintain complex multi-sheet schematics in Altium Designer for video, high-speed digital, embedded processor, field-programmable gate array and complex programmable logic device, power, analog, isolation, protection, and fiber-optic interface circuits.
  • Own or directly support printed circuit board layout in Altium Designer, including component placement, stack-up definition, controlled impedance, design rules, routing constraints, length matching, differential-pair tuning, return-path control, via strategy, and manufacturability review.
  • Define and review high-speed layout requirements for HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C, USB 3.x, DVI, 3G/12G SDI, SFP/SFP+, 1G/10G Ethernet, PCIe, DDR2/DDR3/DDR4, LVDS, MIPI, and similar multi-gigabit-per-second interfaces.
  • Perform pre-layout and post-layout high-speed circuit simulation and signal-integrity and power-integrity analysis to reduce jitter, crosstalk, insertion loss, return loss, reflections, via stubs, impedance discontinuities, electromagnetic-interference risk, and power noise.
  • Use Ansys HFSS or similar three-dimensional electromagnetic tools to analyze connectors, high-speed launches, vias, back-drill structures, transitions, stubs, and other critical discontinuities when applicable.
  • Use simulation and layout review to guide connector selection, cable-interface design, electrostatic-discharge and electromagnetic-interference protection, common-mode choke usage, reference-plane continuity, grounding, shielding, and high-speed routing strategy.
  • Design and review power architecture, switching and linear power supplies, sequencing, protection circuits, thermal considerations, and power-distribution networks for embedded products.
  • Lead board bring-up, debugging, and root-cause failure analysis for prototypes, pilot builds, sustaining-engineering changes, end-of-life redesigns, and customer return-material-authorization issues.
  • Use oscilloscopes, time-domain reflectometry and vector network analyzers, protocol analyzers, bit-error-rate and eye-diagram tools, logic analyzers, thermal tools, and standard laboratory equipment to validate high-speed, power, and embedded hardware performance.
  • Support verification and validation testing, including HDMI, DisplayPort, SDI, and Ethernet interface checks, electromagnetic-compatibility and electrostatic-discharge testing, environmental stress screening, reliability testing, and compliance-related testing for medical or mission-critical products.
  • Prepare and review engineering change order and engineering change notice packages, bills of materials, manufacturing release packages, layout notes, simulation summaries, design-review materials, test notes, and corrective-action documentation.
  • Work with product management, mechanical, firmware, field-programmable gate array, software, test, manufacturing, vendors, and original design manufacturing partners to deliver manufacturable and reliable products.
  • Lead and participate in schematic, layout, signal-integrity and power-integrity, design-for-manufacturing, and design-verification reviews, and mentor junior engineers and printed circuit board designers on high-speed layout and troubleshooting practices.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with analog and digital video products, video transmission over copper and fiber, AV-over-IP, SDVoE, video processing, capture, display, and interface conversion.
  • Hands-on Ansys HFSS experience for 3D electromagnetic extraction and analysis of high-speed channels, connectors, vias, launches, back-drill structures, stubs, and board transitions.
  • Experience with other signal-integrity and power-integrity tools such as Ansys SIwave, Keysight ADS, HyperLynx, Sigrity, or similar tools.
  • Experience developing hardware for medical, military, industrial, or other high-reliability products and supporting standards such as IEC 60601, IEC 60601-1-2, ISO 13485, MIL-STD, or equivalent.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • July 2026 hiring spanned engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and regulatory roles.
  • InfoComm 2025 and ISE 2026 demos showed expanding medical and military product demand.
  • Broadata's new mini HDMI rack targets operating rooms, where uptime and switching speed matter most.

What critics are saying

  • June 8, 2026 regulatory hiring shows exposure to FDA, IEC 60601-1, and QMSR audits.
  • ISE 2025 relied on NETGEAR M4350 switches, so partner pricing or roadmap changes hurt margins.
  • Private ownership and narrow niche create customer concentration risk; one lost OEM contract can crater revenue.

What makes Broadata Communications unique

  • ISO 13485 certification and 25-year Torrance manufacturing support medical and government buyers.
  • ISE 2026 demos showed zero-latency SDVoE systems for operating rooms and battlefield deployments.
  • Broadata sells mission-critical fiber and IP connectivity across broadcast, defense, transportation, and healthcare.
