Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of travel counselor experience booking corporate or business travel is required.
  • Experience with Sabre Global Distribution System is required.
  • Professional, collaborative, and supportive interaction with employees, clients, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Appropriate and professional written and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and handle and prioritize simultaneous requests.
  • Creative and analytical thinking with strong problem-solving and consultative skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to perform basic math and read and interpret information.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Working knowledge of technology and personal computers.
  • Proficiency with Global Distribution Systems.
  • Knowledge of geography.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with customers to determine destinations, transportation modes, travel dates, financial considerations, and required accommodations.
  • Arrange travel services including air, rail, car, car service, hotel, seat assignments, and other accommodations requested by clients.
  • Handle simple international travel, including fares, pricing, available resources, and travel documentation requirements.
  • Provide consultative service while adhering to the organization’s Travel Policy guidelines.
  • Compute travel-service costs using the Global Distribution System or other booking tools and resources.
  • Assist customers with travel changes and special requests, including problem solving.
  • Perform quality control on each reservation before placing it in the relevant ticketing or quality-control queue.
  • Assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, make effective decisions, draw clear conclusions, and escalate to leadership when necessary.
  • Review incoming correspondence and materials, prioritize and summarize information, and respond in a timely manner.
  • Maintain reservations in a completed state regardless of whether ticket authorization was received during the call.
  • Monitor assigned queues and tasks throughout the workday to ensure reservations and tasks are accurate and complete.
  • Ensure that all tasks within the team are completed or reassigned by the end of the shift.
  • Work independently and with the leadership team to make effective decisions and resolve customer-service issues.
  • Create and update passenger profiles to properly service each traveler.
  • Collect customer payments for travel services according to the client’s Travel Policy and CTM policies and procedures.
  • Read daily briefings and industry announcements to stay current with industry developments.
  • Participate in training opportunities to maintain and expand travel knowledge and customer-service skills.
  • Maintain comprehensive working knowledge of the Global Distribution System and account-specific products, including CTMAdvisor, Online Booking Tool, iQCX, and Banx.
  • Maintain productivity goals set by leadership.
  • Maintain strong intra-departmental communication and exemplary customer service.
  • Develop supportive relationships with clients and demonstrate superior customer service.
  • Maintain a good attendance record.
  • Serve on dedicated accounts or in specialty areas as assigned.
  • Mentor new or less-experienced Travel Advisors when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Experience with the Amadeus Global Distribution System is strongly preferred.
