NetApp and Supermicro partner to deliver validated AI infrastructure from enterprise to factory scale

NetApp and Supermicro have announced a strategic collaboration to deliver jointly validated AI infrastructure solutions for large-scale AI factories, enterprise deployments, and sovereign AI initiatives. The partnership combines Supermicro's AI-optimised compute and rack-scale systems with NetApp's data management platform. The collaboration aims to accelerate deployment, improve GPU utilisation, and reduce operational complexity. Customers will receive pre-tested and validated unified systems, enabling faster production deployment and shortened integration cycles. The joint solutions span three core capabilities: integrated AI solutions at scale, enterprise-grade data management and security, and maximised AI investment return through optimised data access. The partnership enables independent scaling of compute and data infrastructure as workload requirements change. NetApp and Supermicro will deliver the NetApp Novus Data Director software on qualified Supermicro servers with NetApp AFF A90 systems, separating metadata and data planes for independent scaling within a single namespace.

SMCI targets $60 with $60B order backlog and full AI factory edge over Nvidia

Super Micro Computer has rebounded 21.76% year to date despite remaining down 21.46% over the past year. Trading at $35.64, the stock sits at roughly 8x FY2027 earnings, whilst Wall Street's consensus price target remains just $42.38. The company reports a record $60 billion order backlog and exceeded Q4 earnings estimates by 78%. FY2027 earnings per share estimates jumped 33% in 90 days, with 16 upward revisions in the past week and zero cuts in 30 days. Unlike Nvidia, which designs chips, SMCI builds complete AI infrastructure including rack-scale servers, liquid cooling systems, switches, storage and deployment services. This integrated approach provides a competitive advantage in AI factory construction. Revenue estimates for FY2027 average $67.1 billion, aligning with management's guidance of $65 billion to $72 billion. Reaching a $60 share price would require the forward multiple to normalise to approximately 14x FY2027 earnings.
