Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience in lieu of the education requirement where applicable.
  • At least 7 years of experience in software development or a related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience with software engineering competencies covering frontend technologies such as user interface and user experience, middleware including microservices and application programming interfaces, database technologies, or DevOps.
  • At least 6 years of experience implementing solutions through development lifecycles using iterative agile development.
  • At least 6 years of software engineering experience designing, building, and supporting complex enterprise or customer-facing applications.
  • Strong backend development experience with Go or Golang, or significant experience with Python or Java.
  • Experience building modern frontend applications using React, Next.js, and TypeScript and integrating frontend experiences with application programming interfaces and backend services.
  • Experience designing and developing backend services, application programming interfaces, microservices, and distributed systems using Go, Python, Java, or Node.js.
  • At least 6 years of experience translating business needs into technical requirements, solution designs, and scalable application architectures.
  • At least 6 years of experience across frontend development, application programming interfaces and middleware, databases, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and continuous integration and continuous delivery.
  • Experience building and operating software in cloud-based environments, including automated testing, deployment pipelines, observability, incident management, and production support.
  • At least 4 years of experience providing technical leadership to engineering teams, with or without direct reports, including leading design discussions, reviewing architecture and code, mentoring engineers, and guiding teams through complex technical decisions.
  • Experience working directly with customers, product teams, architects, and engineers to understand complex business problems, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and guide solutions from design through delivery.
Responsibilities
  • Resolve complex technical problems across multiple applications and layers of the stack to drive improvements across products and portfolios, and lead projects with significant business impact while contributing to planning, prioritization, and estimation.
  • Lead development of integrated business and enterprise applications across frontend, backend, application programming interfaces, data, and supporting services, ensuring solutions are resilient, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with architectural standards.
  • Build awareness and alignment around enterprise-recommended frameworks, tools, technologies, engineering platforms, and architectural design practices across the full application stack.
  • Drive operational excellence through disaster recovery and capacity planning, performance, regression and chaos testing, observability, alerts and dashboards, reliability practices, and recovery runbooks.
  • Break down complex technical and business problems into straightforward, practical solutions that can evolve as needs change.
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend software components, frameworks, tools, and technologies that can improve application development and delivery.
  • Drive solutions, streamline development and operational processes, remove bottlenecks, and resolve escalated technical issues.
  • Guide engineers through complex technical challenges, conduct architecture and code reviews, mentor engineers, establish practical engineering standards, and improve development and delivery practices.

Target raises dividend to $1.16, Lowe's to $1.25 as retailers defend payout streaks

Target raised its quarterly dividend to $1.16 from $1.14, whilst Lowe's increased its payout to $1.25 from $1.20. Both retailers reported second-quarter results on 19 August 2026. Target's increase follows a period of flat dividends and comes after a tariff refund boosted quarterly earnings. The company yields 2.8% and paid $518 million in dividends during the quarter. Chief financial officer Jim Lee stated the firm prioritises business investment first, dividends second, and buybacks last. Lowe's generated $3.1 billion in free cash flow against $673 million in dividends. However, the company faces balance sheet challenges, with negative shareholders' equity of $7.44 billion and debt-to-EBITDA of 3.0 times following recent acquisitions. Management aims to reduce leverage to 2.75 times by mid-2027. Lowe's yields 2.4%.

Major US retailers pocket $5B in tariff refunds as Walmart gets $2.9B, Target $994M, but shoppers see little benefit

Major US retailers have received over $5 billion in tariff refunds this week alone, with Walmart getting $2.9 billion, Target $994 million, and Home Depot $730 million. The Trump administration is refunding approximately $166 billion in tariff revenue after the Supreme Court struck down its sweeping tariff policy, having returned $100 billion so far. Despite studies showing consumers bore the brunt of initial tariff costs through higher prices, most companies are reinvesting the refunds rather than passing savings to shoppers. Retail executives indicated in earnings calls they plan to put the money back into their businesses. Consumers have filed class-action lawsuits against companies receiving refunds, but none have concluded. Americans have limited recourse to recover funds if companies don't voluntarily lower prices.

Lowe's CEO warns of cautious consumer spending amid macro and geopolitical uncertainty

Lowe's reported mixed second-quarter results, with revenue falling short of analyst expectations due to pressure on DIY consumer spending. The DIY segment represents 60-65% of Lowe's revenue. Lowe's Q2 sales rise 8.3% to $26B, maintains full-year EPS outlook at $12.25

Lowe's Q2 sales reach $26B with 0.2% comparable growth, updates 2026 outlook

Lowe's reported second quarter 2026 net earnings of $2.4 billion with diluted earnings per share of $4.27, matching the prior year. Total sales reached $26.0 billion, up from $24.0 billion in the second quarter of 2025. Comparable sales increased 0.2%, driven by strong performance in professional services and a 15.7% increase in online sales, offset by DIY market pressures. The company recognised $96 million in pre-tax expenses related to acquisitions of Foundation Building Materials and Artisan Design Group. Excluding these expenses, adjusted diluted EPS increased 1.6% to $4.40. Lowe's updated its full-year 2026 outlook, maintaining total sales guidance at $92.0 billion but lowering comparable sales expectations from up to 2% growth to flat. The company paid $673 million in dividends during the quarter and operated 1,761 stores as of 31 July 2026.
